based on a single level played people can pretty much sum up what the color scheme will be for the entire game.
Same thing happened with Metal Gear Solid 4. The demo was in the dessert and everyone was saying how bland it was and how the whole game was color deprived. And it turned out that every level had a whole variety of colors and environments. The jungles in South America, the towns in Europe and the snow in Alaska all appeared in MGS 4.

This decade timeline has always been Sony's plan. The 360 isn't built for 10 years and this is even more true for the Wii.
edit: Besides the PS3 isn't even close to reaching it's limit, and I'm not about to give up my console for a new one in 2 years. A long life cycle would only benefit gamers and developers.
but PS3 has a very long way to go. I agree with sushipoop, MGS4 is selling well and FF XIII will help the PS3 sales sky rocket
