I've read many official reviews and user reviews that describe the story in 'The Last of Us' as "generic" and "done before", but I think if you have concluded on that, you've very much missed the point of the game and can't see it as a near perfect or indeed a perfect game.

The the story was very much intentional to be generic, however the focus is clearly not on 'why the world turned out this way', 'how the infeection came ...

Of course the PS4 can wait, it's sold out on Amazon.

Can't blame the author for trying to distract himself.

Buy the physical CD on amazon guys, the quality bump is worth it to appreciate the soundtrack.

I had a slight suspicion David was Nolan, there were times during his lines his character voice would crack and reveal a slightly Drake voice.

I simply brushed it off, because I was under the impression Nolan wasn't in it.

Ignore this article, it's clearly written by someone relying on Google translate that doesn't capture the passive details of the Japanese language:

Kojima says: 違いも少なくなっています

Which Google translates as 'the differences are fewer', however it actually translates to 'differences are becoming fewer' *in the context of PS3 and Xbox 360, since they were talking about them in the interview*

Notice that I have translated it wi...

I'm not going to say which is better, Uncharted's style of music is very cinematic and pleasurable to listen to, Last of Us obviously aims to be atmosphere driven that speaks for the characters on screen rather than intensify their actions. Two very different uses of music.

But hey with personalities like Gustavo Santaolalla providing deep and somber guitar solos, there is no competition.

CD quality is an absolute must for this, sounds are very sharp,...

Brilliant soundtrack, my copy from Amazon just arrived today and I have been listening to it all day. Very innovative use of unconventional sounds to mimic instruments from walking on gravel to hollowing tones from car exhausts.

Overall I think it's a good way to test Hi-Fi grade headphones/receivers, very strong acoustics that only really stand out on good equipment.

I was an avid Nintendo fan at the PS3 launch time, and only had a Wii. After my friend showed me some PS3 games on his new 1080p TV I switched over immediately, went straight for EBay and bought this disappointed PS3 owner's 60gb with all the launch games for $500. I guess it worked out for me.

I'm waiting for the Jap release, but they have not announced any news of the local release so no retail/online stores are taking preorders.

@snp

Tips in America is 10%, but let's be generous and assume it is 20%: 7.25*1.2 = $8.64

Is there even a point to mention tips?

Ok let's move on tax, in Australia they have $18,000 tax free, where as in America they have 10% up until $8925.

Assume both the Australian and American part-workers 1000 hours in a year.

Australian:
1000*$16.96 = $16,960
tax = 18,000>16960 = 0

I think testament to how brilliant Naughty Dog designed the game, is that on Hard I only fired ~600 rounds to kill ~450 people/zombies.

If this had been any other game, the bullet and kill count would've been been in the thousands.

So Tom Chick wrote this?

whilst he has been a 'freelancing' journalist for about 20 years now (or so he claims) if you read many of his opinions, interviews and reviews you see that he is a man who can be described as simply 'bitter' , and genuinely hates Naughty Dog, you only have to read his Uncharted reviews.

`Do the math people... $100,000,000 to make a AAA game. `

The maths is simple: stop making crap games that put the money in all the wrong reasons and end up being crap, like 99% of those CoD clones.

Uncharted 2 had a budget of $20mil, I very much doubt it had a marketing budget of $80mil. Yet that game was very much a benchmark for 4 years post it`s launch, and still continues to be enjoyable today.

I don`t think the problem is so much games ...

I honestly don't see the appeal of mobile phone gaming, but what I do recognise is the amount of revenue it generates from f**k all effort put into the product (high return vs cost).

What I don't understand is why Nintendo refuses to expand or spin-off separate teams whether 1st or 3rd party into some sort of Smartphone applications, I'm not talking about putting Mario, Zelda, Metroid etc on phones here.

Or is this a problem in the larger picture,...

Bad move, I don't want to tell myself or my friends to sign up for a month just to play an hour or two on the rare full moon night once, twice, thrice a year.

It's good thing I stick to single player games, otherwise I'd be angry.

Same thing, just buy a $2 adapter, you just won`t get sound. So you will need to use the optical port.

They really toned down the infected from original concept arts. Originally they had very grotesque monsters that were contorted much like Necromorphs from Dead Space, a good choice I reckon, it would have ruined seriousness of the game if they went with the concepts.

You get big name games like Deus Ex: the fall...oh wait.

They really nailed the zombie atmosphere on Dead Nation, definitely would like a sequel. However they have expressed a lack of satisfactory sales with the first game.

"Just imagine if we were not able to buy a used car, furniture, house, electronics"

Video game discs/cartridges are not assets that depreciate on a time scale, they are consumables that are written down tp $0 immediately upon use.

However ignoring human nature to see a 'used' disc as being worthless than an untouched disc, companies sees a used game to be exactly the same as a new game because the 'utility' or enjoyment derived is ex...
