Reviews itself are a useful tool to see if a game works properly, etc (if it's a good review anyway).
Review scores are for casuals who can't think for themselves and need some sort of approval before buying a game. Scores are also used by these same casuals to engage in dumb arguments.
The music has been a borefest all the way back to MK Armageddon, doubt it will change.
