VGC continues to undertrack PS4 hardware sales by 200-300k. As of March 3, 2014, PS4 should be about 7.7-7.8 million, not 7.5m.
It will be embarrassing for them when Sony announces 8 million this month and VGC has them 200-400k undertracked. If they don't announce 8m this month it's because they're holding back for an E3 announcement.
VGChartz software totals are usually terrible because they don't count digital sales. Sony announced 20.5 million PS4 software sales last month but VGC still has them at 17.36. Not to mention the large continual profit being made on free to play games like Warframe.
Going by the more reliable Amazon sales for March, Fifa 14, Battlefield 4, and Infamous are the top selling games for PS4. Spider Man 2 isn't even in the top 100 for PS4.
MLB The Show jus...
Sony will probably announce 8 million sold while VGChartz has it at 7.6-7.7 million.
They've been undertracking PS4 by about 100-200k since launch, now they're undertracking it even more.
It's going to be rather embarrassing for VGChartz when Sony announces 8 million sold and they have it at 7.6 million or something.

Week 3 total: 437,894 to 262,195 (1.67:1 ratio)
When Sony announces 8 million PS4s sold to consumers in mid-late May and VGChartz has it at ~7.6 million, people will lose even more confidence in VGChartz predictions. They are undertracking PS4 even further.

VGCharts Global March 2014: 626,726 PS4 to 433,889 Xbox
VGCharts US only March 2014: 238,972 PS4 to 289,340 Xbox
According to VGCharts Xbox outsold PS4 in the US by ~50k, but got outsold globally by ~200k. Taken with a big grain of salt as usual.
Vgcharts March global sales are 476,102 PS4 to 342,060 Xbox so far. One week to go. March total will prob. be 700k to 450k.
All the price drops and bundles and marketing didn't seem to help much.
"Tier 2" countries are very small markets and already dominated by PS3 and PS4. In some of those "unlaunched" european countries you can already find grey market Xbox Ones readily available.
Xbox launching in those small markets will do almost nothing for their global sales. You'll be very disappointing if you expect some kind of sales surge.
That's interesting. 220k to 112k, right in the middle of my estimates for that week. That brings the March total to 476,102 to 342,060.
Add a fourth week where PS4 sells ~225k and Xbox sells ~125k and it will be at 700k to 450-500k total.
I believe we're past the point every PS4 is selling out within hours/days of being in stock.
PS4 only hit a million last month thanks to Japan's 300k launch. Japan looks to hit 120k this month. Combine that with demand slowing down a bit in US/UK, and it's reasonable to estimate 700-800k rather than a million.
According to VGCharts PS4/X1 globally (not US only):
March Week 1: 123,702 to 74,441
March Week 2: 132,051 to 155,106 (titanfall week)
March Week 3: (infamous week upcoming)
March Week 4:
Total March: 255,753 to 229,547.
PS4 still ahead globally in March despite supply shortages, price drops, and free Titanfall/Forza bundles.
Week 3 I expect PS4 200-250k and Xbox 100-125k.

They had PS4 at 5.8 mil when they announced 6 mil. Pretty close but a bit undertracked. As usual take it with a big grain of salt.
I estimate PS4 will sell 700-800k and Xbox 400-500k globally in March.
These OpenGL and DirectX low level API updates mainly benefit PC users. Consoles already have low level APIs.
MS customized their system for media and multitasking features that have zero or negative effect on games performance. That's where most of the "3 billion" went.
The whole "MS spent 3 billion therefore it must have better games performance" is a conspiracy theory.
PS4 has been consistently 100-200k behind what Sony officially announces.
PS4 hardware is still undertracked by about 200k. As of Apr 6 2014 Sony announced 7 mil. As of May 10 2014 they should be around 7.8 mil not 7.6 mil.
