Not just SSS but even PBR. None of them was even using PBR (except maybe Toy Story 3 which used a very early version of PBR): something almost all current gen games use with various accuracy.
How mentioning MG Acid games that aren't even canon and forgetting MGS Mobile which is canon and happens between MGS1 and MGS2 and uses the phone camera to catch textures as camouflage like in MGS3 and MGS4?

This is not unexpected.
Why can't they opt for Dynamic 4K instead? The game may display in lower resolution in overloaded scenes but reaches Native 4K in less demanding scenes and indoors.
Some games do it and it works well. Some games succeeded in doing it at 60 FPS.

Litghting is better so more self-shadowing appears on Chloe's chest from her necklace and shirt.
Character models looks different: Chloe is sweaty and dirty and her skin color looks more natural. She has an extra braid of hair falling on her cheeck and AA on hair looks better.
