Microsoft had plenty of direction when the console was being announced, but they just decided to change things after the criticism. I don't see that as a bad thing at all, I respect Microsoft for its decisions to go back on DRM and Kinect as it only makes the console a more attractive option for me when it comes to buying one.
I like your presidential analogy as well, but I'll be voting for the candidate who has the better message at the end of it rather than the can...
The dubstep gun is the only thing that could make me play Call of Duty again...
The dubstep gun needs to be in EVERY game.

Two of the most popular stories on N4G at the moment are to do with footage of Final Fantasy 15 and inFamous. One of the most popular stories this week was to do with Killzone. Nintendo titles just can't compete with the publicity that these games are getting.
It's not solely about exclusives. The most talked about games at E3 this year are Battlefield 4, The Division, Ryse, Quantum Break, Final Fantasy 15, Destiny... None of them heading to the Wii U.
Looking to the next-gen consoles, I just don't see how the Wii U will be able to keep up with the PS4 or Xbox One in terms of software.
Sony and Microsoft don't do it nearly as much as Nintendo because they've got plenty of third-party games to go with them.
But how many Mario games - or games featuring Mario - have there been in the last three or four years? It's a bit different to having a new Halo or God of War every now and then.
They really need a lot more new IPs. Although to be fair it doesn't help that third-party publishers just aren't interested.
The only game that could get me to buy a Wii U. Love these games!
My most anticipated game this year. That might sound silly, but this looks hilarious.
Games like this usually bore me but I was pretty impressed. I have high hopes for it.
Still yet to jump on the Minecraft bandwagon, and this won't change that.
At least they're trying!
I think with Blacklist they're really trying to go back to basics and get that old Splinter Cell experience back. Which is a great thing.
I hope so. It doesn't help that this year's biggest releases seem to be skipping it, though.
Does that include the always-online DRM?
But seriously, building my own city on Tatooine would be pretty awesome, I know exactly how to fix the traffic problems.
Who can we get to make a new X-Wing game?? This NEEDS to be done!
Monster Hunter 4 should do well, but I'm almost certain that Lost Planet 3 will bomb. And no mention of Remember Me? That will probably struggle as well.
Capcom have a rough year ahead of them.
Not too sure about the Kinect, but this is something I might be interested in.
