Do you really believe they have not got or made enough money to keep their employees and even hire extra staff without loot boxes?
If loot boxes are what keeps these company's afloat, I'm quiting gaming, because I'm not paying any extra just so I can get a full game or pay to win.
The witcher got it right, you got a very full game and the additional content, not pay full price for half a game and then expected to pay extra for the other half....

We turn up to fill in the hole reinstate the road or footpath and people see a hole a treat it as a rubbish dump, sacks of clothes, dogs mess, bin bags full, one time there was even a car in the hole lol but I don't think it was dumped deliberately

Because some of us have other priorities and my life doesn't revolve around trying to make other people feel bad about which plastic box they game on.
I own nearly all consoles dating back to the Atari 2600 woody so I really am not biased.

Horizon zero dawn was a good game but I don't think it was great, graphics are good but not to the extreme you brag about.
And the game itself was just a clone:
