It takes years to design consoles, put marketing budgets and build ad campaigns.

Then you need lead time to make the games.

Some of you may want new consoles now, but other than Nintendo (they usually have a way of staying silent), you're not getting one any sooner than holiday 2013...and that's at the extreme earliest.

In fact, I think this is delving into what I mentioned a month or 2 ago on a different board (IGN):

The only way for GFWL to continue to exist, and because of Steam to the PS3, the only way for XBOX 360 & XBOX LIVE to continue to exist, is to merge GFWL and XBOX 360, effectively making 2 platforms, 1 . This is the only way Microsoft can uphill battle Steam, and the only way Microsoft can stop the impending fallout over Steam/Steamworks to the PS3.

Is this t...

Anarki asked:
"Who in their right mind will pay and use xbox live when there are alternate ways to play online which require less hassle and far more cheaper."

Answer....the same sorts of people who would pay for XBOX LIVE now.

True story.

The game is getting beat down in the reviews because they let down quite a few gamers.

The thing they were touting was an awesome written and engaging single player campaign. Come to find out, their single player campaign wasn't so epic and instead was a 4 1/2 derivative, me too game.

If it does fail marketwise (although sales have been pretty good so far), the developers only have themselves to blame.

I submit to you, that other than CALL OF DUTY games, you have NEVER seen any cheat hacks with your own eyes.....Not a single 1, strawberry9.

If you clicked the youtube link, strawberry9, you'll notice the date of that COD hacked game was in early-mid 2009...close to the time I bought my PS3, and well before GEOHOT.

But like the article said and implied, they look better, but they don't look 10 times better.

The difference in terms of a practical sense, the difference is only marginal.

That's why I'm probably going to get Diablo 3 on the PS3 or XBOX 360 when it launches....but that's a different story, I suppose.

What I'm delving into, is the fact that Microsoft's future is getting more and more dim each year.

Microsoft has few products it can rely upon, One which is turbulant, finicky and can change or turn on you at the drop of a hat (The games industry), and another which is starting to show weakness and may soon face redundancy (Windows).

Steam has basically punched a hole into GAMES FOR WINDOWS LIVE, and Apple has crushed their Ipod-clone plans.....Zune m...

Let me explain:

Has anyone noticed, that outside of video games and Windows related products, Microsoft has zero products with success? Even in the Video game market, they are still playing second fiddle, and any day now, they won't even have that. Again, even in the PC video game market, Microsoft cannot figure out a way to get and keep consumers on their GFWL platform, Why? Because Steam is kicking GFWL's butt.

Zune just failed. Once upon a time...

Many people weren't actually buying games. Sure, people might buy a game every now and then, but I think many millions of people either didn't buy games on a regular basis, and/or many people were hacking their PSP's for homebrew apps and free games.

Some were hacking for the use of pirating PSP games.

In that case, 67 million units isn't so great.

Phones can be legally hacked....other devices cannot. Therefore, it is in their best interest to NOT have phone capabilities in their PSP2 unit(s).

I think that this might change at some point, but they certainly don't want to give more ammo to the hackers right on launch day.

That's my theory.

And the PS1 had better 3D and pushed more polygons that the Saturn at a time when most of the industry was trying to shift from sprites.

Yeah, the Saturn could do better sprites, but it was inferior to the PS1 when it came to polygons.
