It looks like the Wii2/Cafe is mimicking the PS3 design--upgraded of course--as close as possible.
Lets see,
--a higher FLOPS (Graphics Processing) calculating CPU than is typical for General CPU's
--XDR (XDR2 in this case) ram for SUPER fast memory access.
--BLURAY for the best media disk format possible.
--HARDDRIVES in every unit.

So that means the ram speed is gonna run in the neighborhood of 8 to 10GHz.
in comparison, the fastest ram you can buy now is DDR3 at 2.2GHz.
Consoles don't need the same ram as computers because the developers actually try optimizing what they have, and come up with far more efficient results.
If the ram wasn't as fast as it was (3.2GHz) the Cell Processor would stall.
Depending on the Architecture and components of said unit in question, ram TYPE is potentially more important.
They got their hands full just trying to figure out how they're gonna handle this NGP/PSP2 thing.
And why in the world would talking about launching new console hardware keep investors happy? If anything that would make them angry. Sony's lost Sooooo much money already, they would probably call for someone's head if they were trying to spend more money on a new console system right now.

It's because, typically, in the past, it was always time to start the new gen going approx. when the consoles start getting emulated on the PC.
That hasn't happened and we aren't even close to that happening at this time.
Some might ask, "why is that important" or "why does it matter about PC emulation in the past".
Because I don't want to spend 4, 5 and $600 for a new console that's only incrementally ...

Long story short, Microsoft doesn't have the same capabilities as Sony regarding hardware. They don't have the same leverage, the same facilities, they don't have the same engineers, or the same know how, and it will take Sony at LEAST 2 years to make a new console.

Next generation of consoles will have expanded Digital Download options, but disks to all of the "premium" games will still available.
And as long as Consoles need to be sold in stores, you will have disks or some retail medium attached to it.
You know why?
Because Best Buy's, Target, Gamestop, Walmart, etc.....they won't sell consoles, which typically don't make stores much money, without software for them to sell.

They know PS3 has been outselling XBOX 360 in total retail software since 2009.
that they target their games to run on Low end PC's and low powered laptops. Have no idea about your Macbook, but it seems to run them.
You can look at any game on Steam that you want, the minimum specs may not be ideal, but that's what it takes to run said game, and in almost ever single case, said game is lower or equal to the capability of an HD console.

Just this gen alone, alot of their positive gain was negated by broken XBOX 360's that had to be repaired....a couple Billion dollars just right there. And guess what? They still aren't done fixing them. In fact, they won't be done fixing broken XBOX 360's until the year 2013, and even thereafter....many millions and several times each in many cases.
Both companies bear their own financial burdens.
I mean yes, high end PC's are certainly better than Consoles, and most mid ends....but what about LOW END PC's and laptops?
Alot of "jump to conclusion" people claim Consoles are holding PC development back, but they don't think or factor in the fact that game developers want their games to play on those low end PC and laptops, and the HD consoles are more capable game machines than many of those.
And then we get games like Uncharted 2 ...

That Polish dev team is very PC centric and I think they are somewhat small too.
THE WITCHER 1 wasn't on either console and if you'll take notice, you'll see that many smaller European Developers are the same way, like Haemimont Games (Tropico), JoWooD Entertainment (publisher of GOTHIC series), and Reality Pump (Two Worlds 1).
