Sony bought studios, ok. That's how it works. Sony buys the studio, works hands on with the devs to develop great first party titles and create successful long term franchises.
PS3 had more first party IP's released this generation, NEW first party IPs, that have gone to be successful game franchises.
Microsft didn't do that. They focus on halo/gears. Other than that it's an empty vacuum.
