I expected the cross gen stuff, but Sony flat out lying about how they would handle pre-orders is what had me mad.

Nothing has been confirmed until the official announcement is made. Those could be placeholder prices. Amazon does that all the time.

The 2GB are most likely dedicated to system ops, OS, UI, etc.
The One X was discontinued because the Series S is taking its place.
Whoever this dev was has no idea what they are talking about. The Series S is using the exact same CPU at the exact same clock speed as the Series X.
