It's the other way around.
Other industries have proven that digital content is important.
@Army_of_Darkness
Yeah, I totally agree with you. Should have bought the phone with the best camera.

Fact?
At least 80% or more of that are textures.
If anything, that is currently the general issue in game development. True next gen to developers will be mostly about reducing that size significantly in how you simply use textures.
So as time goes on, you'll see that size come down significantly due to how game development is progressing into highly optimized hardware and software.
So no, this does not state next gen. ...
You haven't developed a game in your life.
Full stop.
Not into racing games, but Forza looks gorgeous and sounds real good.
I just want to see more SP gameplay.
SPSPSPSPSPSPSPSPS, WHERE IS IT?!
Because if anything, SP is going to be EPIC!...IF

Actually you guys are wrong. EA (and many other endorsing companies) along with NCAA have ALWAYS exploited these young athletes. Since they have to abide by NCAA (college) rules, because it's not a true sports league. And if you ask me, that is a fine ingredient for exploiting these young folks.
NCAA (sports), especially football. first topped $1 billion since 2010 and have been growing ever since.
So when you have some athletes who'...

"you seem to be insisting that this is something that is exclusive to DirectX"
I believe your insisting that I'm insisting in that sense.
I simply stated Microsoft and AMD were working on something more customized. And why there is an NDA on Microsoft stating anything other than what has been so far.
The NDA is up tomorrow, and we'll see if it's all just hot air. But AMD's recent announcements on...
Do you understand that most of what's coming on the Radeon R9s and R7s is going to be based off of what AMD and Microsoft has been doing in "skunkworks"?
Along with their shared technology (Microsoft's audio chip on their new line of GPUs), I wouldn't be surprised if Mantle will work in hand with DX11. More similarities in that case than anything else.
If anything, it seems as if Microsoft has a close relations in how Mantle functions...just to speculate, but it seems Xbox One be better for porting.
Either way, for those who made the ridiculous claim that this will replace either API (D3D,OpenGl) should end that claim here.
Mantle on it'self, meh. Through either API, it will be great for GCN architectures.
@stragomccloud
You know why? Simply because they have no clue what they are on about.
It's so obvious.
150k of polygons for a model was pretty much like, whoa! Now what are the trade-offs for that if it's just one character? And I was kind of iffy.
But now it's reduced to 85k, STILL it is heft amount of polygons for a model, and probably a finer experience overall for better graphics.
So this is n...

If you haven't noticed, everything moves forward. For you to be so fixated on the idea in sense that we will not move forward is just ridiculous. FCC set a challenging that every state should have a community of fiber optics and Google answered that call with Google Fiber.
And with that threat to the neck of other ISP providers, watch em' slowly all fall in line.
For anyone to think that a company like Microsoft to come out spurting out claims like this to be ridiculous, you have another thing coming.
I'm surprised that they're still consistent with the cloud and are sticking to the idea that it does more than just A.I.
They have something relevant, and only time will tell. If it wasn't the case I'm sure they would have realized that this is PR madness, because it's obvious that proclaiming the clo...
HEY!
The game is still going to look great. But more improved this time. Probably this will help in having more sustainable fps.
I don't see anything wrong with this, and doubt general public will notice any difference.
What I want is more of the SP mode and story. So far have not come across that yet, and I believe it's going to be a great SP experience. No doubt about that, but until then I may be wrong.
@cleft5
Either way, US built Japan back up compared to Japan if it had taken over China...not so pretty.
Besides the history goes back.
@Sharius
What you have to understand is China is not a true free market. It has a market, yes. But China still holds sole decision over who they deal with. And so far, certain obvious decisions in China define that resentment of what contributes more to Japan than anyone else.
Microsoft defined in what we do and enjoy beyond gaming.
WRONG!
Until 5 years from now, people will see the direction that was supposedly to be taken.
Digitalization is inevitable. Like cassetes before, discs will be in the rear view mirror and when that happens DRMs will be common.
I had always wanted the sharing plan.
We live in a overly sensitive and scared society. The details of the sharing plan was there, everyone just hopped on the bandwagon without doing their on DD and coming out with their own judgement on the matter.
So for you to state that Microsoft were not going to offer such plans is ill advised. Probably not steam prices but sales none the less on their own business model.
What you have to understand ab...
...get a clue!
You have no idea what your on about, and you look ridiculous!
If anything this is a low level API. Which will more likely be used through higher level API (DirectX, OpenGl.. ) to use ONLY AMD graphics capabilities. It's not a general use API for other GPUs.
Oh look PS4's dev kit!
I'm j/k..
