Yea I feel ya.. Thanks for the response. I can see what you mean with the "not next-gen" thing. It doesn't feel on par with the likes of Resistance and such. I just didn't think it was as bad as everyone says. Maybe I'll bargain bin it one day when it's cheap just for a buffer when I'm in between awesome game releases.
I downloaded the Haze demo last night to see why everyone bashes it so hard. As far as I can tell (from the demo) it's not that bad.. It's not omgwtfawesome!.. But I have no idea why it's the red-headed stepchild of PS3 games. The AI is a little dumb and the lines are cheesy but the gameplay is fine. I agree FF8 does look way better. It's hard to compete with Square in the graphics department. I did enjoy LoD more than FF8 though. I think one of my favorite things about the game was the attacking system, how you had to press to chain combos. With that, you were always involved in the battles beyond telling your characters who to attack. Also, the characters were very different from one another and all very fun to play. AND... the ending.. was spectacular!
I think it's funny that Microsoft and Sony fanboys are the ones to not get along. Meaning, since the same "types" of games come out for these 2 systems, you'd think that they'd get along better than anyone. It would make more sense to have a rivalry with Wii fanboys (note: I'm not encouraging it) because of the siphoning of the market towards that totally "casual" type of game. To defend "your companies" like that, you must be concerned with sales.. and being so ...
I don't think this game is over-hyped. I think a lot of other games are, but not really this one.
@Coookiie: I don't think Sony "fans" think every 360 game sucks.. I think Sony "Fanboys" think every 360 game sucks. I am a Sony fan and I'd be a fool to say Fable and Gears look like they suck. I would love to play them and would love even more to play them on my PS3 but we know that isn't going to happen. You should not generalize people like that.
Did you think the graphics were bad for the time? I thought they were pretty good.. Maybe I'm just looking at it with rose-colored glasses because I remember it so fondly.. but it makes FFVII look even more dated in comparison. I don't even think it looks horrendous today, considering its age. Also, anyone that loves RPGs and hasn't played this... PLAY IT! Old graphics and all! ^^
I would LOVE a sequel to this game. I actually think this game is not old enough or the graphics are not quite dated enough to remake it.. But a sequel would be MORE than welcomed! lol.. I don't think anyone is jealous of the story. I think we don't even have all the trophies or know how to achieve them, just names. If ya want names ummm how about "Sack Attack" and "Little Big Combo"! I'm as excited about this game as anyone but seeing "Treasure Hunter" doesn't fire me up.
