It's a shame. Brink was one of those games that looked sooo good on paper. It had sooo much potential, but ultimately ended up being a huge disappointment.
It depends on the game. Sports games are just an example. In a game like GTA for instance seeing ads on billboards or seeing someone drinking a Pepsi might not be a big deal, but what about a game like Final Fantasy or any other game where it's world has very little resemblance to real life? It kills the immersion/believability of that world.
Exactly my thoughts. In sports games, advertisements only further adds to the realism since advertising is abundant in sports in real life.
I just don't want advertising to get to the point where, like you mentioned, we have to start watching ads before playing a game or we have to watch an ad once we get to a certain cut scene. I also don't want it disrupting the immersion or believability of an in game world that has little to no resemblance to real life, yet you ha...

I always play on the default difficulty. I only play on a harder difficulty if I'm experienced with the series. I only play on easy if I'm trying to unlock or collect stuff.

First off Nintendo already acknowledged that they needed to attract the core. Second the Wii U isn't even out yet. Hardcore games take time to make. It's unfair to expect a console's launch lineup to be flooded with an endless amount of "must have" games.
