Well the New Super Mario Bros. games aren't really all that good anymore compared to the original and Wii. Bros. U was pretty great but Bros. 2 nah.

I am sure Platinum Games spoke to both Sega and Nintendo on funding it Whether Sega feels they can support it this time remain to be seen and if not Platinum Games will no doubt go with Nintendo again since if it wasn't for Nintendo. Bayonetta franchise would be dead and since Bayonetta 2 exclusivity to Nintendo came to be her popularity and reception grew.

Uh no. Splatoon did sell the Wii U in Japan. If you go look at the Media Create chart since it released in 2015 you will see that it was top seller every week and Wii U sales in Japan went up in 2015 because of it. Super Mario Maker also helped.
Not only that Splatoon 2 Testfire was last month and people bought the Switch in Japan just for that why during that week the Switch sold over 70k more prior. Splatoon sold over 1 million in Japan alone.
