They really didn't do much of the developing of the game that what people meant not apart of it but they were pretty an advising and overseeing the game development. Making sure it doesn't go against whatever contact or deal they made.
Nintendo do owns 100% of Pokemon but the money received is split.
The Pokemon Company was created by Nintendo, Creature Inc and Game Freak so yes it is Nintendo. They are just handling the franchise for Nintendo.
Even on the App itself for Pokemon Go! has Copyright Nintendo.

Except I played Bayonetta on X360 before the game even came out.
I had it on PS3 but didn't bother with it cause the framerate back in 2010.

You complete those four trials - totem boss Pokemon - Battle the Island leader
then you move on the next island.
So it safe to assume there will be four on each island, with possibly four totem boss Pokemon and one leader.
Meaning 16 type could potentially be covered.
