I heard god of war’s preorders were stupid low. Like it’s not even close to competing with titles that don’t even have release dates yet. Preorders are by no means a final verdict on sales obviously but it is a peak through a foggy window and it does make you question the appeal a bit. I don’t think this is going to sell as much as people think it will. Unless it has a massive word of mouth boost at the 11th hour which is entirely possible if it’s good.

It really doesn’t. Compensating is basically breaking even, that’s not why businesses exist. The larger market also doesn’t compensate for the over-saturation of games. The game list is packed with diverse titles and we don’t buy all of them.

I think MKX is going the right way about it. You play the game to earn coins that unlock boxes. Or you spend 20 bucks to unlock everything in the krypt. It’s a win win for everyone.
