Website hits aren’t statistical data. Many people “boycotted” call of duty and were found playing it the next day. 1.5 million people read loot box and gambling articles? That’s no surprise, 1.5 million articles about it are on n4g everyday. Do you have any hard data to prove that lootboxes have a negative impact on sales? No? If you want to believe that 1.5 million people are boycotting lootboxes because of website hits then that’s your business. Draw your own conclusions.
I turned it on the other day and I had like 100 lootboxes. I got tired of opening shit up. It’s been so long since I played it that I don’t know if they were given to me or if i earned them by playing the horde shit lol.
@goldby
Well there hasn’t been enough time to see what impact video games have on these serial killers. Give it some time, we can connect a dot or two somewhere down the line if we try hard enough.
Loot boxes are not a new mechanic lol. Random loot has been around for a century dude, giving another way to buy crates without earning them is not a “new mechanic”. Random loot does not equate gambling in any sense of the word. You are paying for a product. Th...
I miss the 360 days when everything has a demo. I never trusted the media so I’m just flying blind now.
It’s not everyone lol. Like the article says, there isn’t any hard data to suggest this outrage isn’t anything more than a few hundred people on twitter talking out of their butts.
We see it on n4g every day but 30 gaming media outlets =/= the gaming market. In fact, they are nowhere even close to being the in tune with the gaming community 99.99% of the time. I doubt most of them have any interest in gaming at all. Just failed writers that don’t want to work at McDonald’s ...
@princess
Loot boxes dont turn people into gambling addicts anymore than violent games turn people into killers.
Can you show me any well documented studies that show kids being turned into gambling addicts from loot boxes? No? It’s not so different then imo.
Exactly. And we can’t forget to tax violent games that targets kids and turns them into serial killers.
TLDR
Devs: suck it up buttercup.

Infinite growth is not possible but massive growth is possible. We have not hit the limit yet and when the markets do hit the limit they will shift to something else. For example, when everyone finally has a land line someone will invent the cellphone and decimate that market. Growth is not only about dollars, it’s about growing technologies and such that expands and shifts markets. They will do anything to stay one step ahead of competition.
The fact about capitalism is ...
It’s possible but it’s tough. It’s not easy money like MTs. People call loot boxes gambling but do you want to know what real gambling is? Dumping 50 million into game development and advertising for a game that might flop. That 50 million and years of man hours could be a complete waste.
It’s the Wild West and who knows what games will catch on. I support platinum games’ Independence but they said recently that Nier saved their ass. If that didn’t take off like it did who ...
Welcome to the business side of your hobby. A cutthroat gold rush. It might be new to you but it’s not new to the gaming industry. It’s not fuel, electricity, or water it’s entertainment with an ever changing economy. If you don’t adapt you fail. Saying stuff like “Greedy bastards!” not only shows your lack of knowledge about what keeps these studios in business, it also shows a lack of understanding of why these companies were started in the first place.

The ultra-slow dramatic games are lazy to me as well but they have their place. I’m no fan of them and TLOU’s Influence is apparent, especially at Sony.
It was the first thing I did.
For real. He might not even have been trying to be negative. Maybe he just wanted character customization lol. This isn’t even worth a slow news day.
Canceled preorder. She belongs in the wrong castle, taking care of the kid koopas.
Twitter as a news source. Is n4g turning into cnn? CriticismS? As in plural? She responded to one nobody on Twitter.
I would love it if publishers sold and traded studios like baseball players. Unfortunately it’s not like that, it’s “give me your IPs and gtfo”. I hear it constantly, “greedy assholes!” Lol. Yes, welcome to the business side of your hobby. These publishers have always been like this, EA especially. What has changed exactly? Besides the high pitched squeal of a small segment of the gaming community.
First world problems.
