The more the PS3 gets hacked, the more likely Sony will take away features. As much as I'd love to create my own dynamic themes, I'd rather have the ability to buy them than for Sony to disable them entirely.
That's probably because there are so many doom-and-gloom articles that come out after a PS3 update. One person's PS3 freezes, and it's because of the update. Mind you, that one time it froze Unchrated 1 a whole lot, but other than that, I haven't seen a huge outbreak of frozen or YLOD PS3s.
There was no patch for what you are describing though. The fat PS3's time clock is programmed incorrectly so it thought February 29th was March 1st.
