The reason Sony and Nintendo can get away with a one year warranty is because they're products have a 1% fail rate. NOT 16%.360 can have all the games in the world, but you can't play them on a broken system. And for that matter you can't even enjoy your games on 360 under the threat of stress from worrying about your system breaking.
They just need to test their systems better. I went through 3 Xbox 1's!!! Microsoft needs to start caring about their customers, even if its just a little bit. People spend way to much money on these things just to have them break a few weeks later.

Sony has a good line-up of games for the next two years. There will be a price drop at some point in those two years. Once the price comes down people will buy it. Plus with Home on its side and more emergence of the Trophies, Sony will pick it up.

Videogames in general do not take that big of hits during economic downturns. The reason for this is that they provide a high return on a hefty investment. You get more hours of entertainment than any other form of media. A $60 investment can net you 30-60 hours of fun in most cases.
Who cares if Sony is not winning. Did it stop people from enjoying the first X-box when it wasn't winning? Sony will be around for a long time to come.

I understand Sony's reaction. About 2 or 3 years ago a Swiss newspaper had a comic with the prophet mohamed. This angered many Muslims around the world. Flag burning ensued etc. Sony was smart. Like the article said they get publicity, and they stay clear of the tiny chance that Muslims will start burning PS3's.

Seriously in one week I will be playing, Fallout3, LBP, GTA 4(still working on it) and to boot I finally checked out Call of Duty 4, and now I am all hooked on it. I have to say I wish I would have bought it much earlier.

Sony is competent. They know that they need to get the ball rolling. They know they have a line-up that can compete for the next year and half or more. They have some momentum. Even with the 360 price drop the PS3 is selling almost as well. Microsoft will have a big holiday season, but so will Sony, and Nintendo. And in Sony's case, the best will come after Christmas. Home is going to be a huge part of that success.
Oh how I hope this is coming soon. PS3 is about to become the online leader.
It's not just Sony nuts. It's thousands of Xbox 360 adopters that have had enough of having their system crap on them. You have to demand more from the world. Everyone these days is so content with getting it up the @$$ from companies, the government, etc. If you don't hold these people to a higher standard, nothing will ever change. I think that is what this lawsuit is essentially about.
