TLDR version
Insomniac wanted to create a new IP and actually keep the rights to the franchise.
They pitched it to Sony and Sony said we will publish if we get the rights. Microsoft said we will public and Insomniac can keep the rights.
Microsoft wins.
Insomniac was really sore by not being allowed to own the IP rights to Ratchet and Clank and Resistance Franchise.
Polygon probably deducted 2 points just for it not releasing on the Xbox one.

I am fine with remake/remasters as long as they are actually a better version AND ARE NOT full price.
IMHO, they should of "remastered" either heavenly sword or God of War 3. Deadnation looked the damn same from the ps3 version.
Acension story was really slow. I mean if you played God of WAR 1, and remember the flashback then you have good understanding how Ares screwed over Kratos and why he wants revenge.
The multiplayer was fun at first, but then you would be put in auto-matches with people with best powers/gear than you and you would get killed in one swipe. There were only like 5 maps too, which didn't many much sense since they were so tiny.
To me the multi felt shoe-horned ...
This was the only god of war game I did not finish.
If it came out BEFORE God of war 3, it would of been judged as harshly.
