It's all sourced info. 20% of our traffic comes from N4G, the rest are regular readers we've built up over a decade and a number of websites. Maybe come and check us out some time rather than prejudging on the location of a referral source.
@mandf please do some research. Some games are selling better on Switch/PC/Xbox One than PS4. Some games are not releasing on PS4 because its a pretty difficult place to sell indie games right now. Some developers are seeing the relatively barren Xbox One game slate and Rubbing their hands together because they know they can launch there as an exclusive and do better numbers than a multiplatform launch.
I'm not burning sources but do a little digging around of Multiplayer games that are releasing on PC, Switch, Xbox One but not PS4.
I'm the author of this. If you'd taken the time to read the piece, you'd know that I wasn't referring to sales numbers when referring to "getting left behind". I was referring to games and services. I referenced one game that's not releasing on the PS4 because Sony won't allow cross play. I know of 3 others - off the record so not naming names - that are skipping the PS4 for the same reason and are releasing this year. I don't own a Switch or an Xbox One...
Please explain how FFXV would change the perception of the Xbox One in Japan if FFXV was available on PS4 in Japan too? Genuinely interested in a response because I don't know how "X game is releasing on the very popular PS4 but also the Xbox One" has any chance of changing that perception. An exclusive from one of the best Japanese studios though? As in Scalebound? Sure. I could see that.
I'm hoping the pledges still get honoured (be a good way to fill out servers early) but I wouldn't bank on it.
