I always have a problem with the 'out grown' Nintendo.
I bought the Nes, Snes and N64 when they came out. The decision to stay cartridge based with the N64 caused the problems I feel, that's where publishers were alienated, they lost the 3rd party support and caused the gaming consumer base to choose Nintendo or the 'other'.
Making a choice between exclusives is one thing, but when 3rd party games don't appear on your system, what are...
Ha, if you think about it, Nintendo's problems are caused by bad parenting. Games like Call of Duty should only be played by 16-17 year olds and over, according to the rating system.
We all know tons of under 16s that play Call of Duty, etc.
Same here, both my kids are well versed in Nintendo.
Everything is cyclical, right now Nintendo isn't as fashionable as it once was, I used to go crazy over FIFA and still play now and again, but eventually, you go looking for other experiences. When all these 12 year old's pretending to be 28 really grow up, they'll know better.
Actually ElementalKnight right, they at least sold more hardware than anyone else, this from vgchartz.com...
2013...
Nintendo about 21 million combined
Sony roughly 19 million combined
Microsoft about 9 million combined
3DS 14,849,340
PS3 8,282,795
X360 5,828,960
PS4 4,397,385
WiiU 3,232,667
PSV 3,121,285
XOne 3,087,421
PSP 2,973,884
Wii 1,949,850
DS 818,084
Mulitplats will sell consoles, exclusives will sell the console tied to it, the more exclusives a console has, the more attractive it becomes.
Why would you buy a console where multiplats are the same, but exclusives are weaker? huh, XBOX360?
Xbox One costs $471 to make, selling at $499.
PS4 $381 to make, selling at $399.
Do you think they sell them to retail stores for this price? Stores have to make a profit too or it's not worth selling.
Neither company is making a profit on their console, yet.
@Exquisik - Thank you
@b777conehead - I'm full of it? what's that? Full of being right? You just prove that on the internet, you can be 100% right and people will still say you're wrong! Gotta love it!
@slapedurmomsace
*Sigh* I'm looking online right now, we can't account for individual stores, go to Gamestop.com and see for yourself...
The biggest sign that PS4s are hard to come by and Xbox Ones aren't, is Gamestop are selling regular basic Xboxs, but you can only buy a PS4 as part of a bundle, they know demand is high, they won't sell you just the regular 399 console.
The other thing that I find funny is how everyone could see from a mile away that Nintendo wasn't going to make it's sales targets, but yet those same people are the most shocked when it became official.
This is all quite scary if you think about it, Sony in bad shape, Microsoft trying to sell Xbox and no one has any hope for Nintendo, where does that leave gaming in general, all 3 leading console makers unstable??
Yes, you are missing some like Knack and so on, but of all the launch games, how many can I not play on my PS3?
This was the Wii u's launch line up...as I said, it got blasted for being weak, compare this to PS4.
Assassin’s Creed III
Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition
Call of Duty: Black Ops II
Chasing Aurora
Darksiders II
Disney Epic Mickey 2
FIFA Soccer 13
ESPN Sports Connection
Game Part...
Still not impressed with this launch line up. Man, remember everyone killing the wii u for it's line up last year?
Maybe Sony fanboys are more forgiving?
I think the point was, going into the holiday season, what options we have. I'm not too impressed with PS4 right now. I have a PS3, but there's nothing on PS4 at launch I want to play, that's why I'm not buying yet, these supposed announcements on Thursday evening by Sony might change things. Xbox one is not worth $500.
I think Nintendo will retry a VR head set next.
That explains it N4rc, I don't play as much online FPS on console, I'd rather do that on PC. I use my consoles for other games like, RPGs, racing etc... I'm still a sucker for Mario and Zelda games add Xenoblade Chronicles too. My gaming tastes are pretty varied.
Are there any games that are considered 'exclusive', you do enjoy?
Great point about exclusives taking the best advantage of the hardware.
Just 1 question... if the xbox one had no exclusives and the PS4 had 20, but Xbox one had a better UI, would you choose Xbox one over PS4?
for the record, I have a PS3/Wii combo this gen, due to the games available on those systems, that way I've cornered +95% of the gaming library. Next gen, right now I'm going with a Xbox One/Wii U combo. Xbox for 2 exclusives...Crimson Dragon and Killer Instinct. Eventually I will get a PS4 when they release some of their bette...
Wow, so wrong. Games sell systems, fact. If I make a game for my system, why would I also publish it on my rivals systems also? It's the same reason you only get the Big Mac at McDonalds, it's not just business, it's common sense.
In choosing a system, if I like FIFA, Madden etc... it's a tie, the breaker is who has the exclusive games I want to play. What other way should I choose which console to buy? Because I like one company over another? There's...
Haha, how can any disagree with my previous comment, they are figures pulled from vgchartz.com, my math is close enough.
Even if you say green peas are green, someone will be here to argue!
