I stopped caring about pre-rendered/pre-release bullshots from these companies when not a single game looked this good last generation.

I've considered pretty much every year the year of the game....
Because not only do each system gets a hand full of excellent exclusives, but PC gets a lot of wicked indie games, along with updates and mods.
Personally Saying its the year of one thing just limits your choices.
Why not just do what you did before, just keep the game fun. And not make the whole experience about online play. That is something that pesters me.
A racing game should be about racing but every time I attempt to play a racing game on console *outside of a heavily setup league* I end up being smashed into and crashed and destroyed.
I don't see why its so hard to setup a game so that those who do wreck on purpose or those who do stupid things are not pun...

What happened to the days last generation were it didn't matter what someone reviewed the game as, especially if you enjoyed it yourself.
Mandatory installs were pretty much required this past generation as well though.
On a few games it required second disk install on the 360, or really large mandatory downloads on the ps3.
Just saying its not a new concept for consoles.

That looks fantastic, and would totally be worth picking up again.
They all look rather happy, and I'd say that looks like a pretty decent work environment, and making upwards of 1k a month playing games is pretty good, especially with food paid for.
I'd say those people actually have it made at a time like this.

When you are limited to the number of units on screen, the particles effects, the physics, the AI, and all the effects behind graphics yes, yes they are.
Now that is a good point right there. To many current companies put to much budget into one game and believe it will just succeed. Its not like the era of PS2/xbox were you had a lot of smaller companies popping up and releasing low budget games and having decent sales on them.
I actually miss a lot of those games, and hope that with this generation ending companies like those come out of the wood works again and start releasing more risk taking designs.
You said the game plays with horrible FPS on your computer.
That is because its a laptop. So you can't really say poorly optimized when you are using a system that wasn't built for this sort of thing to begin with.
Then you upload a video from someone else because your system isn't capable of doing it, without knowing what their specs are either. And then you try and say a Leaked alpha of a game is poorly optimized, which is just redundant in the ...

Well considering the ps3 is using 2005 hardware that's pretty dang good.
I would actually like to see more from them, the end of each generation has always put out the best games. And if a developer wants to stay a little longer I fully support them and look forward to what they put out.
Its largely to do with the merger, Once the merge happened the company quickly went down hill, They've also lost a very large amount on their stock, had a CEO leave. And now are pulling most of there profit from cellphone card games.
Not even remotely kidding on that either. When they made a announcement about stopping console gaming and moving to mobile market only their stocks slightly jumped up.

Its not that its poorly optimized, its that you guys are all using laptops.
Every knows how the ARMA engines have always been CPU intensive.
It wasn't concept art, It was the video released along side the original killzone 2 video.
If you go back and watch both you will see that no games actual quality on any of the systems for the generation match those, or any of the other released content at the time.
Look heavily at the texture quality, particle effects and character animations.
