"I decide what is appropriate actions and inappropriate actions and behavior in front of my children. Not You!"
Can't reply to your comment further down, so I'll reply to it here. Just pointing out how ridiculous that concept is when you think about it...
- Hey! Stop eating icerceam in front of my children. I'VE DECIDED THAT IT'S INAPPROPRIATE!
- Oi. How dare you tie your shoelaces in front of my poor impressional child...
The default assumption in society is that people are straight and heteronormative. So surprise, you are actually pushing your 'being straight' on other people; you're just not aware of it, because the systems that are in place (the status quo) align with your way of being. By telling people to 'keep it to yourselves' you're literally saying 'i prefer to ignore a key part of who you are and instead imagine that everyones like me'.
Also, 'nor...
I thought this happened a while ago? :/
Either way, I do find it amusing that some people think simply having an extra option (not targeted at them) is somehow an insult and/or slight.
Obviously not all straight dudes are like that, but to the blokes going "It's not fair. I'm not the target audience for once!" and "Woe is me, I'm being discriminated against because I can't be a biggot" I too say quit your bellyaching!
A much more reasoned article than I expected (sorry but mentioned PETA tends to set off alarm bells for me). An interesting read.
Haha I'd heard there were some dodgey tactics by game studios to get around rules in the early days. That's pretty cool.
Being from a smaller site, I hardly expect an overwhelming amount of traffic in response to my articles but that doesn't mean I'm going to stop writing about issues that affect gamers.
And really, there's no need to be so aggressive or angry in response to this topic; no one is being forced to do anything and you don't have to participate in a movement you don't believe in. However as it stands, your opinion is no more important than mine or any other game...
Which is exactly what they're doing :)
The vitriolic knee-jerk response to Sarkeesian's Kickstarter campaign was pretty shocking. It’s a shame that some people just view the world with an "us versus them" mentality, rather than considering the value of discussion.
Hopefully the Tropes vs Women videos encourage people to think critically (in the ‘analysing’ sense of the term, not the ‘disapproving’ sense) about our beloved pastime. :) And I hope the folks whom fervently oppose a simple discussion wi...
Alas, there's always going to be knee-jerk reactions to articles that broach the topic of women in gaming. Honestly, I was apprehensive about writing this precisely because of people assuming it was for clicks or reacting without reading it.
The article IS actually about what you deem to be unique content, as it talks about "what is currently going on with women and gaming." Women and men in the gaming community are coming together right now through the #1Reason...
Interesting article. A good read imo.
Sorry should have been clearer; I meant 'finally' in reference to me getting the game ie. this being the last push I needed to purchase it.
It was a brain-fail kind of day :/
It would certainly be nice to finally get Beyond Good & Evil HD.
Ubisoft Australia have mentioned that although it is a Japan exclusive, that's not to say similar editions are completely off the tables. If significant demand for the ezio saga was noticed, they might consider something like it.
Which basically means probably won't happen, but not impossible.
The only problem with this is that Ezio fans would probably own most, if not all, the games already. Albeit the addition of DLC and some extras is nifty, but it's not enough for me for double up.
But the question remains... what do you do about the Zombirds? The title is just so ambiguous ;)
looks cool!
still can't tell... if Blizzard be trolling...
or if the trolling... is trolling...
:S
Oh I see, this article is more about complaining.
Let's just call in factors like presumptions on the average wage, which never accounted for the original prices of technology in Aus vs. US prior to inflation resulting from the strong Aus dollar. Then let's suggest the government are trying to earn votes with something relating to video games. Seems legit.
I think some places can still safely say "games are expensive". Case in point: Australia. Over here we're paying a recommended retail price of $110 AUS (irrespective of the comparative weight of the Australian dollar). There's no cause for excuses of shipping or Aus market factors, as there is little to no price drop for digital downloads.
It's ridiculous; so much so that the Australian government has (finally) announced an inquiry into the prices of gam...
More details have arisen regarding the plan for Diablo III launch. Plus GAME have a FAQ up on their site now with details regarding gift cards, vouchers, store credit and loyalty cards.
So far I've only seen one article with 'a source' saying it will be later than the rumoured date, but that's not confirmation in and of itself. Is there an official Microsoft announcement I've missed? :/
