Technically like you Better textures higher quality lighting models and effect so on so forth. Battlefield just has a better art style than pure realism. And not everyone has the same taste so its not a matter of which you like better because everyone has a different opinion. Some people might say amnesia looks better than Uncharted 3. You can argue looks, But tech is factual.
Aesthetically? Probably not, but technically ARMA will wipe the floor with Battlefield and all the others like it usually does.

@optimus The probably was rhetorical. Your not going to find prices like that at walmart. If your thrifty and lucky its doable. On the other hand if you upgrade then there is no Probably. $250-$300 in upgrades is worth $700 in a brand new computer.
Theres a difference between playing and maxing out, you can play ANY game out there on an old 8600gt for like $25 but your not going to max it out. On the other hand if you spent $200 on a card you will be maxing every game out for the next 2 years unless something crazy happens. People over react about the upgrading thing, My laptop can play almost all games maxed out and its desktop equivilant probably wouldnt cost much more than a console and a couple of DVDs.
This game will run on any POS laptop (yes sir thats right), so obviously its a good representative of what Console and PCs are both capable of when pushed to their limits.

Nah, games are too easy now. between quick saving instant solution to all situations and spelling everything out for you. Victory is handed out like candy these days because gaming demographics just cant accept a challenge and god forbid losing.
Metro just needs a new vegetation engine. from what i can see its the same one... very crude sprite system for the smaller branches and grass. infact... that looks alot like s.t.a.l.k.e.r foliage
This was pretty much throwing gas on the fire. Im probably not getting rage this year but All of these settings are useless and/or are controlled by the graphics card settings.
If you mean the settings none of them are really even worth adding customization. Texture cache is a fairly useless setting for customizing. and everything else you can control outside the game. I find this disappointing. They say their going to give us proper options and the give us a light switch thats not connected to anything.
Ya... screw it, preordering Skyrim. Maby they will figure out what fans want next year.
Those are some interesting articles. I dont agree with alot of what you said, but some of it is correct. and like i told someone else a study showed that a majority(60% ish) of pirates end up buying the game they pirated. I just hope they stop streamlining games for the consolers, now it seems like games are reduced to 'press action to win" and anyone with standards realises that their being BS'ed and thats part of the reason certain companies do poor on PC (ubisoft)
On a side note something like 60% of people who pirate a PC game end up buying it(this was an actual study). I just thought that this is notable because people ofter overextend the piracy problem on PC, Ya its a real problem but games still do get sales. Were not talking Wii piracy where you release an AAA game and get 1000 sales.
In fact some developers leak their games to pirate sites on purpose to lure people into buying their game. (this is easy to find on google)

Lol, thats amusing, i hope im not the only one who realises how broken the DX11 patch was for crysis 2 there were literally millions of polygons that were just sitting around. that little concrete baracade in the rode you hop over? 4 million. and now Maldo is making a high res texture mod and getting nearly 10% better performance. 1 modder.
