In an age where games often mean a lot of money games like that provide a really nice alternative. Thank the game gods for them.
It's a tough line to find out the difference between challenge and unfair difficulty, and I can excuse a lot, but when the frustration is due to broken gameplay or a boss battle that is overly difficult. There was the example of that War Golem in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, with the four red obs. That drove me crazy, with the swapping of the orbs, the ability to regenerate damaged orbs, and all while trying to wave a Wiimote in the right direction. When I finally pulled it off I was exultant...
It's funny what snobbery does to you, isn't it? It's like the Wii are the New Rich and EA is the Rockefellers or Astors. "Why, we don't want any of -their- company, do we, Bonnie?"
Ignorant, yes, but combined with an exciting dash of cluelessness and an included with an out of control imagination subroutine at no extra charge.
Perhaps, as an alternative to unwanted pregnancy, schools should start the "Adopt a Goat" program. For just five cents a day you could support a starving needy goat.
I wonder if many more retro games will brought back into a more modern context. I think there's plenty of old games out there that could be improved from a bit of altering: it might be the chance to forget about the unsatisfactory feeling left by Flashback 2.
Every video game has sex in it. Even if it doesn't seem to be there, it is. Zelda carries a sword. There's the sex.
Or at least that seems to be the opinion of a lot of people with access to a byline and word processing software. Le sigh.
I'm interested that Heavy Rain is getting off the ground. I remember seeing the demo movie for it way back in the early days of the PS3 but didn't think it would go further then that. Now it is and I think it's great even if I'm not going to get to play it myself.
And the best part was when Hack, sorry, Jack Thompson got disbarred.
Fallout 3 was cool too of course.
I may be going against the grain here but I thought the no.2 was less fun then the first one. Storywise, though, I think both games in the series were of very high quality.
Somehow the words "simple" and "MGS" don't seem that they'd fit well but I think it will be an interesting production nonetheless.
It's certainly going to be an exciting game if two boxing legends are already fighting to get on the cover even before the game has come out.
I'm not sure when rappers and video games became entangled but I guess it's a backlash to games becoming more recognized.
This was a very informative document which I was glad to see...I may be getting a DS soon so it's good to have a guideline concerning which DS games out there are good.
There always has to be a balance struck between realism and what makes for good gameplay. Too much realism in a game can easily spoil the experience.
I like the personality change they've made with this new prince...not that playing him as an introspective badass wasn't fun but I think a devil-may-care type like this new prince will be even more entertaining.
Well, the movies did have their creepy moments(it was a ghost movie after all) but what made Ghostbusters great is that they mixed the story with enough humor that it stopped the film from being too scary and without it being too hokey.
I'm glad it's still coming out but I hope they stay true to the original spirit of the movie.
I'm wondering how offensive material was achieved in a game like LittleBigPlanet. Despite that, however, at least Sony is working to meet the players half way.
It's always good to see a more widestream treatment of popular video games, even though King of Kong isn't directly about Donkey Kong per se, but the fact that it was well done enough to receive awards after it's release does show that the series is still alive and well in the public mind.
I wonder why they'd sell it through retail as opposed to just letting people download it through an online service. Retailing it seems to be just adding another layer to the process that could be avoided...unique download token or no it's not like you aren't going to have to drive home and download it anyway.
It is, of course, a serious gaff on their part. They should've spotted it before releasing the demo but that doesn't mean the game itself will have such embarrassing defects.
