Eagle...Just bought a PS3 two weeks ago (I own a 360 too) and I have to disagree on Valkyria saving the RPG. It's innovative and a ton of fun, but 30K sales for a very good RPG is discouraging, not encouraging.
LOVE RPGs. FF6, VII, CT, Mass Effect, KotOR, Fallout 3, etc. (JRPG or WRPG) but something about the "kiddy" nature of the Tales of... games bothers me. SO4 looks SOOOOO good but am I going to hate it because of the anime undertones?
SO4 and FF13/V13 will obviously sell like gangbusters. The amount of people in Japan that want those games is incredible. For a country where every citizen with the means to buy a console/portable has monster hunter and DQ games, FF13 was the answer to Famitsu's "Most Wanted" survey.
How do you know what Master Chief's emotional state is under his helmet? I think MGS4 is one of the best games ever and I agree that it conveys emotions well, but to say that the 360 can't display emotions is one of the most ignorant statements I have ever heard.
I've had a 360 for almost 2 years and I just bought a PS3 last week (for blu-ray, killzone2, MGS4, Versus, GOW3, etc.). So far I love both consoles. I could care less which console is easier to program for. If they both have great games, who cares?
(I got a disagree for asking a question)
FFXIII Predictions?
PS3 Sales in Japan -
PS3 Sales in NA -
360 Sales in NA -
Will Japan get a 360 FFXIII -
Will SE announce Versus for 360 after it's released for PS3 -
When a 360 game sells over 100K in Japan, it sold really well. 14% of all 360 owners bought a new franchise game, 1st week.
As a 360 owner I'd have to agree with you to an extent. 360 gamers like their games and I believe SE figured "Hey we're SE and FF13 isn't coming out until next year so let's just get this game out of the door." I for one will not be buying it. I just hope it's improved for the PS3 so some people can enjoy what had the potential to be a different take on the sometimes tired JRPG genre.
Honest question: Which are the pro 360 "shows"? I know there are pro 360 websites, but podcasts? I'd love to give one a listen to hear both sides.
You'd have to think that Last Remnant was AT BEST SE's "C" Team, right? The teams working on FF13, Versus, Dissidia, and DQ9 have to be your better teams than the LR UE3 team.
When did I say that the 360 was better than or will sell more (in Japan) than the PS3? All I said was that MS has gotten more serious in Japan. I'm looking into buying a PS3 (really want GOW3 when it comes out). I think the PS3 is awesome. I never bashed it, or sony. I also never praised MS. They are fighting harder in Japan which is great for anyone who plays videogames.
I gotcha but past failure should not be automatic grounds for future failure. Did the 360 do poorly in its first 2.5 years in Japan? Surely. With Tales of Vesperia, IU, Last Remnant, Star Ocean (and I'm not saying all of these games are high quality but they are games that Japanese gamers typically buy) being exclusive or timed exclusive, the present has been good and the future should be considered bright in Japan.
It just so happens that those 5-6 weeks are within the last few months. MS was not serious about Japan. Now they are, and it is reflected in sales. I'm not going to go all fanboy and say that MS is more important to the people of Japan than Sony, but to say that Japanese people want nothing to do with 360 is sort of ignorant.
Wasn't there a 5-6 week period (consecutively) where the 360 outsold the PS3 in Japan? Sales have shown that Japan wants nothing to do with the 360? I'm confused...
How does he have that many disagrees for stating what it said in the article? All he said was that MS did a good job globally and people disagree.
Last Remnant sold to a far larger % of the Xbox 360 install base than any other game on the list sold to it's respective install base(Xbox has a MUCH lower install base than NDS, WII, PSP, PS2, PS3). How can 78K be considered a flop for first day 360 sales?
No, really. Those were first day sales. That's not really bad at all.
Am I the only person who really didn't have a problem with the way it ran? The framerate wasn't great in some parts but overall it ran well. One of my favorite games of this generation (MGS4 is the other)
