It doesn't matter how late you come into a game, it matters how much you *want* to get good at it. I remember how I got ass-raped when I first started Counter-Strike in 2005. It doesn't have anything to do with Steam. It has to do with Steamworks and Steam Cloud. Sony is giving Valve full control over their games. Because Steamworks will be on the PS3 (something Microsoft wouldn't allow) Valve can easily release content updates, free DLC, patches, and more as a direct download just like it is on the PC version.

Syphon Filter 2 on Hard Mode, approaching Gregorov. You actually "fight" this dude like three times. He can run away from you while simultaneously aiming for your head and shooting at you with a friggin' pistol. He's going for a headshot 100% of the time, unlike most enemies in the game and on Hard mode he can fill the Danger meter up to 100% in half a second. If you're not rolling, you die instantly even if running so you have to magically stay behind cover almost 24/7....
