Actually this is just one of a few slides released. Another one shows an exact copy of the 360 which leads me to believe that Apple are actually planning on interfacing with the 360 and dual shock, and not actually copying them.
Won't be suprised of the 360 ends up using this for smartglass via iphone\ipad - i.e. talking directly to the console rather than via a router to improve latency.

@chunky, correct the ps4 won't have BC with ps3, it's virtually impossible to emulate 7 spe's running at 3.2ghz running on a processor that probably will only clock that high.
Oh and fuck Gaikai, if I don't get a true 1-1 experience with bc I'm not interested - additional latency and compression pixilation can be the domain of those that don't know any better. I just want to put in my ps3 blurays and play.
@JayD except most people have no clue about specs, they wanted to see something tangibly different hence the wii did amazingly.
Also after the success of the ps2, I'm sure plenty knew what to expect of the ps3, however the price put them off. Did you get your ps3 on day 1, come on be honest?
Great, except the emulator should be free, both the wii and 360 support backwards compatibility so Sony should do the right thing.

Personally for multiplayer i wouldn't want to keep looking down at the controller and back up again in a fast action fps, i never look at my 360 controller whilst playing just as i don't look at my keyboard when typing.

And how exactly do you know it has untapped power? Are you a dev? Perhaps Sony can enable the hidden cell that nobody knows about and unleash all that untapped POWER.
The current console are toast post q2-q3 2013 as devs switch over to the next gen consoles. Software sales have declined 20+%, with 20/20 hindsight they would have hit this year.

Yes I do agree that power is not quantifiable, and changing resolution makes zero difference in gameplay.
It's not what the graphics and CPU wil do on day one that interests me, it's the expectation of what will come in e future given a closed system that devs have to work on.
I understand that power doesn't equal playability, however in the right hands power can mean more advanced Ai, better sandbox...

It was actually a comment from someone who isn't the concerned about the price of a console as the outlay is not a concern to me given my salary.

Who cares, it will i'd rather pay more for the best the console manufacturers can produce, i don't want to see out the next 7-8 years with just 3 or 4 times what we have now.
Plus my 14 year old lad will run rings around you in gears 3 multiplayer :P
It's down to the child, my children are intelligent (the eldest has just finished school, is expecting top grades in every subject and wants to be a doctor) and have brought them up to know the values of right and wrong and i've taught them that games are just that - games.
