I have to agree on that. My tactics would be like this: Develope an awesome looking game. Amazing gameplay and stunning grafics like never seen before, don´t let any information leak and then drop the BOMB. The first time people will know about the game is when they see it on the shelves in the store!
In MS´s case it´s really vital for software to sell since they lose money on every console
Pre alpha and it looks this good is positive but on the other hand they have a long way to go... I want this game NOW!!

For many of us, like me, it´s not about loyalty. I owned the PS2 then 360 came and I bought it cause it was the best thing then. And when PS3 came it was the best thing out there so I bought it and sold my 360. I know many are like me, they don´t care about MS or Sony, they want the best out there and now with a price cut there´s nothing stopping them.
That´s right! 360 sells well in North America just like Volvo and Saab do in Sweden even though there are much better alternatives here. It´s all about patriotism. I´m not criticizing Americans or the 360 I´m just stating facts and I would do the same.
Now I get what you´re saying. I too don´t want to wait for 10 million sold consoles for good games to come but IF this is true it´s good for us.
A little off topic but a price cut in Europe and Australia is also confirmed for 12th of July which will make Sony king of Europe since PS3 is already selling really well here!

Don´t make these news hotter... I suppose it will reach 1000 degrees soon. Btw it´s not good news if it´s true cause 360´s are piled up in every store so if the PS3´s sold out chances are everyone will get the Xbox instead.

Actually it matters. With more consoles out there the pressure is on Sony to give us more and better firmware updates, 3rd party devs get their eyes on PS3 and will make a bigger effort to use it´s powers, blu-ray will most definitely win the format war and so on...
