I'm actually suprised by how poor the graphics are; but i'll give it a go.
I think actually it was a good way of thinking. He's focused on delivering a good gaming experience and a thrilling story; which really are the tell-tale elements of a good final fantasy game; and they've gotten away from that in the recent years - so I like that he realizes where his development resources should best be spent.

BF4 Launch was a disaster- which was a bit ironic since the beta was pretty smooth. Obviously, the games not finished - so as long as they communicate and release steady and frequent updates I am on board.
it is an early access =P. I get your point though. I think we are going to have shitty releases for most games for a bit because of covid- clearly its impacted dev time, also DICE has difficulty working under the GAAS model- and it always shows.
They should release something like the psp go.

even if you factor ps5's exclusives; there's not been much new in terms of video games for the last 12 months. ps5 has horizon and god of war; and that's keeping them afloat- but lets not pretend this is some golden age; it's definitely a dearth of video games with producers opting for battlepass driven and selling reskins on free to play games.
