Man when i was a young kid i would buy packs on my moms card, that shit was addicting in a very bad way lol. When people equate loot boxes to gambling, i remember my 10 yr old self blowing my parents money on fifa packs. And i was a frugal kid, this stuff just really gets your adolescent brain in a vice grip. Not to mention every fifa youtuber peddling coins.

Again, there are surely great devs at EA, but stop pretending imaginary suits are designing and implementing these pay-2-win systems. It is the developers, the ones who actually DEVELOP the game. The order may or or may not come from up top, but its the devs who need to figure out smart and fair ways to implement this shit. Its not impossible, plenty of other games get it right.
Very interesting, probably explains why PvZ 2 cant be purchased outright like the original and is built around an annoying freemium model.
YES, so good to hear Disney is laying into EA for bungling the world's biggest IP. Cancellations, terrible press, Disney has such buyer's remorse right now. Should've gone the same route they took with Marvel and recruited different studios/publishers.
After Playstation now's example, idk why any of these publishers would pursue streaming. Being able to download like on EA access and xbox game pass is ideal, streaming games just sucks. Lag, artifacting, lower resolutions. Absolutely the worst way to play anything.
EA no doubt said look for opportunities to monetize, and the devs at DICE took that and made one of the worst freemium P2W progression systems ive ever seen. Even without real money involved, the progression system is simply awful lol no corporate guy designed that shit. Think its the devs on this one really
People should stop with the misconception that EA/publishers force the implementation of these P2W mechanics. By all accounts this last week, it is becoming pretty clear that developers are just as culpable and often the drivers of these mechanics. Just one example, i listened to the former head of Sony San Diego on a podcast yesterday, as lead designer he was actually the main proponent of introducing MTs in MLB the show, not sony corporate. Stop skirting responsible from the people who a...

Horizon sold great, it was a huge success. But it was not a SURPRISE hit. Sony pushed it a lot and expected it to do this well. Again, it sits at about half of Uncharted 4 sales, which is Sony's premier franchise. If Horizon had very little marketing or sold 10 million copies, THAT would be a surprise hit. It literally did as well as expected.
Horizon sold as well as they expected, not a suprise hit by any stretch, it did about half of what uncharted 4 sold which is great for a new IP though. What exclusives were coming out at that time? Thought the early release date left horizon mostly by itself.
Jason Schreier is the man. To all the idiots who wrote about "death threats" in an attempt to distract from the real issue, you suck. Everyone knows death threats are wrong, if they were even sent at all. Was such a pointless narrative to latch on to.
They said anything with "2018" at the end of the trailer was coming out in the first half of the year. This game did not have a year or date, and if GOW, Spiderman, and Detroit are all coming out 2018 it seems this is the one getting pushed back. They are even marketing TLOU pt 2 more now as if that is coming first, but who knows.
Horizon zero dawn was not a surprise hit, it was sony's big new next gen IP and it did well, but did not light the world on fire sales wise. This game is also coming after a bunch of other PS4 exclusives while Horizon pretty much had the stage to itself.
These guys sound like a bunch of "armchair gamers" who dont understand jack about their consumers
"It may take longer/be harder than ppl prefer - but it's not P2W"
I am flabbergasted at this shit that is exactly what P2W means lmao
Its not an issue its probably the most likely scenario. RDR 2 spring 2018, BL3 early-spring 2019. I dont see RDR2 slipping but i think its caming later in the year than people expect, like april - may
Pretty sure they said fiscal year, which runs until march 2019. Wouldnt be surprised to see Borderlands 3 early 2019 after RDR 2 in the spring this year.
Zampella has been fucked six ways from sunday by EA and Activision hes not stupid, probably just cashing in and have someone else pay his staff haha. EA definitely wants to use Respawns fps expertise and tech for the GaaS shared world
shooter bullshit theyre developing
Really depends on the quality of the xbox version. This game's reputation has preceded itself, console players are not expecting the level of jank and lack of polish this game has. After Fortnite, i dont think hiding for a half an hour in PUBG and getting picked off will be as unique or interesting as when it first came to PC. I actually prefer the military style to cartoons but we shall see...
@nowitzki2004
You normally hear about title fight KO's 3 days after it happened? the UFC event completely dominated the media this weekend.
Hearing investors call this an "overreaction" that shouldn't affect EA's stock, and hearing EA say that MTs will not even have a material effect on their bottom line...The hubris is blowing my mind right now. Its like a competition of who can be more out of touch. The optics and impact this situation will have on EA goes well beyond dollars and cents...
