The problem I see with your argument there is the assumption that people would want tv integration from their cable provider on a game console when they more than likely already have advanced receivers with DVR and on-demand features. It's a play by Microsoft to have a more broad appeal than just playing games... but adding this with always online and blocking used games, though just rumors at this point, they run the risk of alienating a substantial number of c...
The features have to be standard or the market will be split. Can't see them doing that.
Subsidies are government financial aid and not the same thing as subscription based pricing options. Please stop using this word, people. That is all.
SMH... Nintendo fanboys are delusional.
You do realize the Xbox brand is nothing outside of North America, right? If MS doesn't own the North American market they are a distant 3rd instead of neck and neck with Sony. If you love MS and Xbox, for your sake I hope MS is taking the PS4 a little more seriously than you are. It wouldn't be hard at all for them to get dominated in sales like they were with the original Xbox against the PS2.
If MS gets cocky and thinks they can release a restrictive console witho...
I'm not supporting it at all, I really don't care if the perception is that we are going that way anyway. I went through a period of 5 months with no internet at home because we could not afford it (for the record, I have a wife and 3 young kids... internet is not a priority). I still played my PS3 a lot in that time and my family enjoyed the Wii. I have zero interest in owning a console that doesn't give me the option to play it without an internet connection.
MS will spend money on marketing and that's what they should do, but it is not going to dictate sales. They've spent a boatload on Surface, Windows 8, and Windows Phone... but at the end of the day the numbers on those products are sad and have poor reviews. I have no doubt the 720 will sell out at launch, but if its not a product that people want then it won't be as successful... regardless of the success of the 360.
This is when you know there's nothing else to talk about.
Hopefully it's Fallout 4 built on a new engine. Exciting to think what they might deliver to the console market with the new hardware. Skyrim on PS3 was frustrating.
That was my first thought when they showed it off.
Would love to see it become a successful series.
No disagreement from me. No one is paying me to use their platform. I really don't understand why people get all bent out of shape and write walls of text explaining crap that doesn't even matter to the discussion, let alone hold relevance to the article.
PC and PS4 architecture is similar but not the same. It's comical to watch PC gamers become engineering experts on a gaming blog site.
I can't wait until these stupid articles stop linking in arrogant PC elitists. We're all very impressed by your mega gaming rigs and how they are making console gaming die a slow horrible death. Such childish garbage. But I guess it goes both ways. It's just really annoying to see any PS4 article that mentions the PC market draw the flies out... we get all this technical jargon from folks who don't know wtf they're talking about. It's great.
If they don't start making the game better it will start dying off. It's already happening.
Was a longtime COD player but it got boring. Hopefully they do some work on it for the new hardware.
Better than paying $50 just to play online, that's for damn sure.
I don't base my gaming purchases on perceived social inevitabilities. I just want my game console to play games.
It should be optional to be online or not. We are nowhere near constant, fast, secure internet being a reality for most people.
It's not in my future.
If everyone knows what they are getting based on what they have this current generation, why didn't Sony have PS2-like domination over Xbox 360 all over again? Why didn't Nintendo's sales stay in the gutter? Every generation is a new ball of wax and consumers must be convinced that they are getting their money's worth.
As an impartial gamer I hope the rumors on the new Xbox are not true. If they are, personally I have no interest in supporting that. It's h...
I agree that 6 GB would be plenty, but I disagree that developers will never use that much. They are going to use what is available and as console gaming continues to evolve and improve with this next generation, more intensive use of the available RAM will become more common.
Just think of what CD Projekt Red will do with that RAM on Witcher 3... or Bethesda on Fallout 4 and the next Elder Scrolls. Those games will make great use of more RAM.
It won't be debunked until Microsoft announces that it's not true. And while you're on about this site "hiding the truth" how about you go blast on IGN, Gamespot, and everyone else who isn't posting anything debunking the always online rumor?
Agree 100% with this. I'll be getting a Wii U eventually, but nothing about it makes me have to have it anytime soon.
