"What can they seriously do to get a fighter on the level of SF on Xbox One?"
Who says it has to be a fighter? they could just go after a bigger IP like skyrim/fallout etc.
This SF5 deal sets two precedents.
1) The bigger the exclusive the better. TR was big news. SF is bigger news. and there are a lot of third party games that are bigger news than SF. MS has a big enough checkbook. It all comes down to how aggressive they are with tha...
"I really don't like this bidding war that started especially with Phil claiming that hell get revenge for Street Fighter 5. "
He NEVER claimed that.
@Septic. I agree.I also agree with the rest of your post. But I like the way he phrases it. makes it all sound so dramatic.lol.
He is weary from years of fighting the console war. Go easy on him, sir.
"No, this should be settled with a match of playing Quake."
Yes. On PC. Its neutral ground.and it can be hosted by steam! lol
Oh yes.
"Do you really think that Sony will invest in this game just so the many other interactions be on other platforms?"
It happens. TF and SSO sequels may end up on PS4 one day, inspite of MS funding. No reason why the same doesnt apply to capcom. and with roughly 8 million XB1s in the wild, that is still a sizable portion of SF fans on XB1 who would but it. they could easily sell a million Xbox copies of the super street fighter V. And by then sonys investment in the firs...
You are talking about two inhouse teams. so for obvious reasons, that is out of the question. capcom is a third party.
That said, I agree, with the article. Its just business. It also means owning two consoles seems like a safe bet. because there will be more of this sort of thing to come....Because now we are going to see a lot of tit for tat, between MS and sony. That is where all this is going. And all Im going to say is MS has more money for this sort of thing. But its ju...
any body here remember this on amiga? Such a good game.
I hope they bring back the Roger dean inspired art style too. look him up if you have never heard of him. He does amazing landscape style art. He also designed alot of old pop and prog rock album covers too. He is also still very active and still has that signature art style. I hope sony get him involved. We will be in for a unique visual treat if they do.
The numbers are on wiki.
"Fighting games have been around forever, why all of a sudden are they meaningless? I could understand a single "hard-core" fighting game being niche, but an entire genre?"
Dude. Take a Good. Long. Look at my avatar. And read my posts that allude to fighting games. I dont like calling it niche, anymore than you like reading it. Trust me. I love them to bits. But I seldom have anybody in my freindslist on either con...
"The thing a certain group of people need to udnerstand about MS is that they would rather die than let a game they spent money on go to Playstation, and Phil Spencer looks to renew that philosophy."
^^This. MS have bought whole companies that compete with them in the past. Buying game dev studios and IPs are small change to a company that big. Lets not forget the 2 billion they spent on minecraft/mojang. What other company spends that kind of money, in the games in...
"I guess they are the same huh?"
Yup. But one company has a cheque book big enough to buy the other company a few times over. This IS going to get super ugly. And N4Gs threads are going to be an interesting place to be over the next 12 months.
Translation: We gettin our cheque book out.We play THAT game better than anybody.
Shenmue III and FF7 as xbox exclusives would melt the internet! LOL
Given how much ground they lose to sony and nintendo in japan, They will have to take some drastic measures. I wont be surprised if shenmue III, or even FF7 popped up at MS E3 conference.
But either way. The message to MS is loud and clear: get your wallet out and start playing hardball.
SF5 is a big one. Its the king of fighting games (virtua fighter is the god)
But fighting games are niche, as I said the other day. You want to know how big a deal SF5 is? just look at how many people comment in a fighting game post on N4G, as an example. Hardly anybody posts in them. they hit 30 comments and then just die down. On a broader scope. SF4 and all its iterations sold around 7 million across 5 platforms (X360, PS3, PC, 3DS and iOS) over the space of a few years, w...
I will gladly part exchange my black one for one of these. I REALLY hope to make it happen.
@Abriael
"What have *you* played?"
well seeing as you asked.
Forza 2-4 ( I dont have an xbox one yet)
GT since the first edition
I was a beast on the old colin mcrae and TOCA games
Raceroom on PC ( and a bunch of DLC for it)
I used to play geoff crammond GP3
And I currently have early access to asseto corsa via steam.
so what point are you trying to make? If you play sim racer...
@Abriael
Are you sure you have played GT VS a 30FPS racer like DC or the crew? You dont know what you are talking about. the only time 30FPS was ever acceptable for GT was during the PS1 days. Its a sim racer ( like forza motorsport and Pcars) 60FPS is important to physics based car models.
"No, we said SF5 was exclusive to PC/PS4, not SSF5."
^^yup. I expect that announcement by xmas 2015. lol
In response to the article...No, it wont be a gamechanger. Fighting games are not the king of the yard anymore. This isnt the 90s. I am saying that as fighting game, fan. But I already know, FPS, open world RPGS, and big budget linear action games are the system sellers, these days. Times have changed. I was pleasantly surprised by SF4s success. But I ...
"Karma don't have to be fair, I don't make the rules of it!2
LOL. True. But you are still a tool.lol
It would have to run at the same framerate as DC to look as good as or better. I would rather they focus on 60FPS and further enhanced realistic handling, then add as many post effect as possible without hurting framerate.
"In the gaming market, Microsoft isn't the only competitor on PC especially with Steam boxes incoming."
Those steam boxes will be competing with consoles for living room space, also.
