Great read. SC2 beta is pretty cool. What I want to get my hands on though, is the map editor.

Getting disagrees for sarcasm ftw.
f*cking fail
zomg, liek they totally look the same.
/sarcasm
If you've already opt in, patience is virtue. Beta is still in it's "closed" phase, so you still have time.
Game is pretty fun though..
The keys were sent out yesterday evening(Mon 22nd). At least for the U.S
"Pro" = worst ever.
Just because the price is at 300, doesn't mean it's selling. And those that do sell, there's a very good chance that the "winner" is the same person.
But, if you do get yours to sell(for any price, really) good for you? I guess...
All I'm reading is whaaa whaaa whaaa. Look, if you have an i7 and 285s, good for you. The problem with that is there isn't a game out there that will push that system, especially in the RTS genre. Your whole argument is invalid.. it's still beta. When launch hits, cry all you want. No game is ever perfect. If you want really bad ass graphics, you're playing the wrong developers' games. Period. Blizz has never been the graphical leader, their games focus on more than that. If you don't get it,...
Also, keep in mind SC2 is just in Beta. The settings on Blizzards end could change before the ship date. Blizz could be holding back a little because it's beta. SC2 has a highly scalable engine, part of the reason there is not uber high(aka I'm better than you so nyah!) setting. It's meant to give everyone the same experience regardless of the computers build.
But like every other game, it's not perfect and won't please everyone. The game is fine..
"Sorry, im disappointed when SC2 looks very similar to WC3. "
Yeah, if you think SC2 looks anything like WC3, you're blind as a bat. They look nothing alike. And I'm not just talking in terms of sci vs fantasy. Graphically they are very, very different. Same engine or not is irrelevant. The games are nothing alike visually.
By doing what Blizzard does, they have a broader player base. Gamers from the low end, to the high end can play. Focus on one or the other, and you alienate group(s) of people.
It's all about the revenue. Make your game available to more people, and you have a better chance at making more money.
*The console market is a perfect example. Look at the PS3 and the 360. Devs have to cut content, and dumb down a game to (try to)give people the same experience because the ...
When it happens, it happens.
/sigh @ being too slow.
Was just about to say this was old.
Also, say you buy a game for its single player. A month later decide you want to go online and kill others or w/e. Now, you need to go out and buy another game.. to play the same game(hopefully each part of the game would be like 1/2 the cost). Okay cool, so now you can do what you could have done pre-said stupid idea. But now, you need to change discs to play the game. Where-as before, you didn't.
There's nothing wrong with multi disc games, as long as the content is there(imo)...
Actually, the things on this list don't really bother me. What gets me, is unnecessarily tedious tasks with a high mortality(virtual) and failure rate.
Aion for example, great game... but leveling your Extract Aether Skill... legendary fail of epic proportions. This part of the game could have been done so much better.
If you've played Aion and have actually leveled, or tried to level.. you know what I'm talking about.
Terrible idea. If you want the game, pay for it and shut the hell up. Something like this leads people to buying a game, and not getting what they wanted. Example, the multi-player is what you want, but you buy the single player. Kids and misinformed parents will be the most affected by this, and very possibly turned away from gaming. Which isn't good.
Games are cheap, if you can't afford it, you shouldn't be playing. Period.
As long as you have fun playing the game ...
Went ahead and picked this game up the other day, and am very impressed with it. Never played the first Mass Effect, but playing 2 makes me want to go to the store and buy it. Not sure I'd give it a 10, 9-9.5 maybe.. tops. Looks amazing on my computer. ME:2 definitely looks better on pc than it does on 360. Watched my brother play it for a while a week or so ago on his 1080p tv, and was far from impressed.
BioWare caught my attention with DA:O, made me a believer with ME:2. Let's...
Show me game-pad support for the pc version, and we'll talk.
kkthx
Not surprising. Not only account security, but SC2 Beta is still in the "closed" phase. In other words, you keep your mouth shut about what goes on and you test. Give feedback as necessary. When beta goes "open". Talk about what goes on all you want.
