you can also use different texture, high def for 2d and low for 3d. Many games do already that when doing splitscreen because it requires more power. Also for some game may do the same as stardust, when they implemented 3d also improved 3d reaching higher resolution and more antialias...
raw power isn't everything. iphone has an OS, so background service and so on...
psp has only the game, it hasn't really an OS so all the power is dedicated to the game...
his business is putting something already existing but unusual for gaming (touch, motion controller, 3d,...) and sell it a bit overpriced counting on the fame of mario & co...

long ago I read that the PSEye is also used to recalibrate if needed, so you don't need to do like the motion plus adn stop playing. But i'm not sure about it...
