I don't Sony implemented something so devious, but it is easy to design computers that can have their mobos remotely fried, rendering them useless, esp with these new EFIs that are slowly moving control to OSes instead of BIOS. I found the article's comments flaming the author even more humorous than the article himself. Even when people are agreeing with him the author becomes defensive and attacks.

1.4 cables are compatible with 1.3 and earlier ports, and 1.2 cables are compatible with 1.3 and above. In fact, PS3 isn't even 1.4.
