Iwata was once a developer for hal laboratory - naturally he would think like one. I like iwata - he runs nintendo as a company that foremost concentrates on making great games- and not a company that uses games to rip gamers off (looking at EA)

these are shipments - meaning consoles sold and sent to retail partners, not sold to the consumers. Nintendo's used the 'sold' terminology because that is how many they sold to retailers during this period. Obviously Nintendo sold more wii u's to consumers, you have to use some common sense if these number were actual sale figures, than the Wii U sold 4444 consoles per week worldwide during this period which is untrue.
i don't understand your price make up - it is totally unfair and blatantly skewed to favor xbox one. Lets go with the basic entry point
$400 (ps4 console) + $50 (ps+) + $60 ( 1 game) = $510
$500 (xbox console) + $60 (live) + $60 (1 game) = $620

as someone who intends university the ps4 is the best choice. Even with my bias (as a nintendo fan) I would still go for the ps4 it has more value. But i can see the appeal of the xbox one but i don't have the money to share between three consoles. So PS4 and Wii U is the combination.
