I wish everyone would stop pretending that Microsoft needs to emulate Sony's business model of pumping out first party exclusives to be successful. Its been proven time and time again that isn't true.
Also why do they need to match Sony's Gaikai service, most industry insiders believe the next Xbox will be backwards compatible,Gaikai is due to Sony's inability to offer backwards compatibility.
When I can buy a tablet that I can use a keyboard and mouse with, has a big screen and is better at gaming than my PC, I will buy one.
But at that point I will most likely consider it a PC anyway so good game.
Well Sony does have services like PS Home & a few F2P MMO's I think. PS Home does operate completely on a F2P model.
Microsoft charges to even play your games online, so you can't really throw that book at them yet. But I certainly wouldn't take it off the table.
"F2P" can be very profitable when done right.
In business it's not about second changes or having another try. Companies like Sega can Gearbox can make a few mistakes and take it on the chin, small development companies live or die by their decisions.
I don't feel sorry for them at all, it's just business people lose their jobs all the time. In the marketplace of ideas you better make sure yours are the best when trying to profit from them.
Microsoft aren't Sony they don't have the same business model. They aren't a first party focused firm, they don't own 20 games development Studios.

Microsoft will or released the successor to Windows 8 around the mid way point, if not earlier into the next Xbox's lifespan.

Honestly you cant future proof your PC, you just can't. Buying really high end cards is normally a waste of money too.
It's better to buy an upper mid range card pocket the rest and wait a few years and spend the money you saved on a card that outperforms the high end one.

Sub 400 dollar machine with 8GB of DDR3 RAM, cannot commercial buy GDDR5 like I said earlier but it's similar stuff.

While it's DDR3 RAM, GDDR5 RAM is not sold commercially.
However it's based on the same design just developed with different goals in mind.
