Its not there yet, but think about how fast mobile hardware has advanced over the past few years. Its not hard to imagine we could see console quality graphics on phones very soon if the hardware of mobile devices keeps growing exponentially.

The guy probably signed a confidentiality agreement when working on Smash Bros. A lot of companies have you sign those when you are hired and it says right on the paper that you can be sued if you break the agreement.
It looks good to me, besides in fighters its all about the frame rate. I'd rather the game be locked to a smooth 60FPS without stutter than make the characters "shinier."
It's worth the 60 bucks if you're looking to play some retro games

2GB of ram is a ton for a game console. The PS3 has 256MB of available ram and a separate 256MB of VRAM. If the PS4 has 2GB of stand alone ram that's 8 times the amount of the PS3.
Psychonauts 2 is another game that would be crazy if it was announced.

I had a hard time deciding between Battlefront 3 and KOTOR 3 as to which one would cause a bigger stir. Either one would be a big announcement.

The DRM used in Diablo 3 is a little on the ridiculous side. I just don't like that you can't play the game unless your connected to their servers since when the servers are down, you can't play the game. Makes me appreciate the 20 dollar torchlight 2 that much more.
Your pretty much right on the money, no pun intended. Most companies don't make money on the first year of a new console such as the 3ds. It's also the end of the Wii's life span and they're just not selling like they used to.
With the Wii-U on the horizon and the 3DS picking up steam I think this past years losses will be a small spike in the big picture.

Not really, the original Xbox didn't have all of the digital applications and abilities that the 360 has. Since the Xbox was Microsoft's first attempt at a game console they mostly used it to figure out the market and then ditched it once the 360 came out.
I'm sure they will eventually, but I think the 360 will stay around for years even after the next generation starts due to the economy and the main stream consumers interest in social media and streaming movies. Even if they stop making games for the 360 Xbox Live is still a paid service that can make Microsoft money on the 360.
The real question is, are they improving the resolution on the 3DS XL? I have a 3DS XL and you can tell the image is a low resolution on a big screen. If the resolution is better, I'll be buying this new 3DS XL day one.
