Yes, they did miss out, its a nice feature to have access to, but they launched their service that makes you pay to have it with streaming. It should have been free.
and I would hope that it would be a fraction of the cost of the original console. That in itself would be great :D
Right now for example 4K is a niche market for the living room.... No TV programs are broadcast in 4k, just 1080i, but when the time comes for 4K, pop in the new card and bam 4k gaming on consoles
Agreed!! Yeah since his very company has their own launcher does it not? and he had to basically retract his statement when Phil himself set the record straight. Fanboys and trolls blew this way out of proportion before getting their facts straight. I am looking forward to their plans and cant wait to see what the future holds.
guess you haven't read the OTHER article yet.

Phil himself responded on twitter and said it will be an open ecosystem. So I guess we will see an end to those articles ?
And there you have it. The man himself said it will be an open ecosystem.
Overreaction and fanboys/trolls spinning the truth and taking statements out of context to fit their agenda.
I am all for DRM myself, I cant stand thieves and pirates...but you are right you should be able to play it offline..an issue that will only get more interesting on all services since digital is the future and unavoidable, I bought the sonic games off steam too last month when they were cheap, I too had to modify the file so it would run correctly, but, it should have ran without me having to modify the file no?
I am sure MS will make their ecosystem more friendly as it evolv...
V-Sync will be fixed as well as people frames counters.
Other than the control issue, which isnt an issue really, people will have to go to another store to buy their games, I buy on steam, but also EA/Origin and the MS store...which is nothing more than clicking add to cart in a nutshell.
I really think this is being made out to be more than what it actually is...Mountain out of a mole hill and the concerned trolls fanning the flames here. I'm not callin...
They said they are addressing the issues, but that got lost in the spin and bash segments now littering this site.
Its like complaining you cant buy a new ford at a chevy dealer.
and the concerned trolls with multiple accounts are fanning the flames because they are in panic mode over loyalty to a piece of plastic.
oh boo hoo..MS is making me buy their game from store and i dont want to..then dont..there problem solved.
Steam has a store
EA.origin has a store
guess what if the store doesnt have your game, then shop at another that does. So much bashing for absolutely no reason. It sounds more or less that a certain segment of the populace is intentionally cherry picking and spinning...enough already.
No sir, the universal app will enable it to run across all platforms. Dev's will be able to develop for the highest level and it will step down for those systems with less umph. So if I have the best hardware available and you dont it will run on both. One will be better performing.
Bingo!!
No I already own a gaming PC,. What I am saying is this; if MS decides in 4 years to offer an upgraded GPU for the console, why not offer it at the fraction of the cost. The universal App will see that they develop for one version that all devices can run and be BC. Its not dangerous, it's call progress. I wish when I got into gaming in the early 70's they offered such an option at a fraction of the cost instead of having to buy a new console every 4-5 years. But the technology w...
I agree, being able to upgrade my console with specific parts, new processor/RAM/GPU etc makes absolute sense to me, especially if it at a fraction of the cost. Also being able to play all my games across all MS platforms is a win win for me. I like this vision personally :D You dont want to upgrade, the same game will still run at the consoles specs...nothing wrong with that. buy the game once and play it on all devices...who wouldnt want that? As for MS killing consoles, actually it wil...
I'm all for it. If 4 years down the road they offer a better processor or gpu for a fraction of thr cost of buying a new system and everything is BC, who wouldn't want that. Cross play, buy and play on any device with the universal app it makes it easy. Don't know what all the fuss is about
Well written article, I enjoyed the nostalgia myself.
oh E3 is going to be interesting. I think it will be a VR show myself to showcase these new devices. As for MS's show, if they make it where you can upgrade the basic stuff at later dates to coincide with more demanding games, while maintaining backwards compatibility, we may be in for a real treat. Imagine upgrading your GPU in 4 years instead of buying and investing in a new console all over again for half the price. Processors, RAM etc can all follow when the time comes.
It leaves it in the same place its been. People are still going to buy what they want and when they want and which console they want.
