With an install base that size no wonder games are more expensive in Au. The US market sold that in a month.

@SlappingOysters

But that's just it. The article doesn't explain WHY. It's just says it costs more. Well do some research. Call Sony. Call Rockstar. Is there a difference in the taxes the UK pays on games versus AU? Do they get a price break because the market is bigger and thus it cost less per unit to sell in the UK?

You want answers, but the article gives you none. So why aren't you yelling at them instead of other N4G users?

If they did proper resear...

Then don't buy it! What? It's more expensive not to buy the bundle? Oh.. then buy it!

But it's almost like the Wii and the PS3 are in the same boat. If you just port your code and try to make minimal changes you get a crappy product.

Sadly the PS3 takes either a complete rewrite of your current code or you have to plan from the beginning to bring it to the PS3.

It's tough being a PS3 owner sometimes, and I am one btw.

then you didn't have a real solid reason to buy the PS3 in the first place. If all your looking for is a GTA playing machine then it doesn't really matter I guess. Get the arcade 360 and save your money, if that SKU is the cheapest in Europe.

^^ Honestly I think that scenario would seem a little overblown. How many people are really going to buy a console because they have to wait a couple of days to play it on the system they would prefer to have in the long run? I am sure there...

Why not call out Japan instead? They got the dual shock way before us, as well as MGS4 special bundles. Somebody has their knickers in a wad, and needs to pull his head out of his arse.

We 'beleave' that...

Really? That is just pathetic.

To hear an adult say "Oh Yeah. Sha-bam.". I am not sure if he is trying to be 'hip' or funny, but it's just sad.

PS: AoT dev team can stick DLC where the sun doesn't shine. Patch the PS3 version first.

Stick with your strong points. This blog post got watered down because the author starts throwing in everything he can get his hands on in order to support his case. In reality it weakened his point.

Wow. PS3 power consumption FTW! Really how does the fact that the PS3 controller has a built in battery REALLY hinder your GTA experience? REALLY! "Short charge cord"... give me a break.

Honestly I think the 360 will be the better version. But how 'much' bette...

I was trying to play Army of Two with a gentlemen that was using the EyeToy. I could hear him just fine, but he couldn't hear me at all. The reason he couldn't hear me is because my voice was getting played over the same speakers as the game sound. So if there was heavy action going on in the game he couldn't hear me. If you have a BT headset the other persons voice comes through the headset directly to your ear. So please buy a BT headset instead of using the EyeToy if your planning on effec...

He says mainstream PC's aren't good for gaming. AKA machines with integrated graphics cards.

This is nothing new. Epic has been taking shots at integrated graphics and Intel for awhile now.

Epic put out a game that raises the bar tech wise, but is a boring, rehashed turd gameplay wise. Maybe if you actually innovated in the gameplay you might have sold a decent amount on the PC. But I guess they are concentrated on the tech side because they have to sell Unreal Engin...

Last post on the issue.

As for the comment, "If it weren't for the early adopters of HDTV's then the technology wouldn't have gone anywhere.". That is true. But just because your an early adopter doesn't mean there is not a risk involved. Look at the HDDVD buyers. Their screwed completely. Also early adopters do it because of selfish reasons or because they have a vested interest. Early adopters didn't go out selflessly and get a HDTV so everyone else in the future coul...

1) You TV manufacturer - Selling a TV w/o a scaler that can take a 720 signal and upconvert to 1080 is a crappy deal by THEM. They probably left the scaler out to save money and sell the unit at a lower price... aka just like SONY.

2) You - It's your fault because you either didn't research the TV enough to know it didn't support 720. Or you are an early adopter. Early adopters take a risk. You knew that going in. Just like buying a HDDVD or Blu Ray player before the format war ...

They are working on a version of Counter Strike but I don't think its a true sequel. From an interview with Gabe Newell:
Quote
Edge: What’s the timescale for this boom?
GN: We’re going to start seeing it now. We’re going to be releasing multicore versions of Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat and Half-Life 2 after we ship The Orange Box

Having more testers doesn't equate to having a product released in a faster manner.

Lets walk through an example:
Sony has 10 programmers working on HOME. And about 200 testers (fake numbers). So the 200 testers are going to find, at a minimum, most of the glaring bugs. Now, as you propose, they do an open beta an let in 100,000 (CONSERVATIVE NUMBER). Now you are going to have a very high volume of bug reports, thus now the programmers have to sift thr...

There are a couple of reasons to go with LCD over Plasma. Just like vice versa. I know plenty of people who have gone LCD over Plasma. So just because the pros and cons for your situation led to Plasma does not automatically go that way for everyone else.

This isn't a personal attack against you in anyway, but many people who sell TV's have the intelligence of a fruit fly about the products. They aren't experts and normally aren't properly informed to top...

From what I have heard the GPU is the bottleneck. It takes 3 8800 cards in SLI to run Crysis at max settings. On the other hand if you have a quad core CPU then the 3rd and 4th core are used for 'framerate stabalization'. So from my limited knowledge it would seem the GPU is the bottleneck.

UT3 is boring. Downloaded the demo played it.. uninstalled it. I played this game X years ago it was Quake 3/ UT 2004. The demo did nothing to sell me on it. You can dr...

With multi core cpu's the Ageia Physx cards and GPU physics angle die off, I believe.

The GPU physics have limitations on how much they can affect gameplay and the standalone physics card only gives you benefits in games. The multi core CPU gives you the benefit of full physics in gameplay, and it has more overall use when your doing non gaming tasks.
