Roller Coasters are a very bad comparison. You feel the gforce and movement on a roller coaster. VR is more like being in outer space in a space shuttle that went out of control.
I find this to be the case with almost all VR racing games to be honest. They are tough as far as sickness goes. Especially if they have bumps in the road or cannot hold a consistent 90 fps. Some of them hold the horizontal line to try to eliminate the up and down sickness but even then they tend to make me feel sick. I think it is largely because we are all used to driving cars and the momentum and force we feel while driving so this feels otherworldly. Fans in front of you do help a little ...
Your augmented fan goggles probably help immensely too.
It doesn't affect everyone. I was also safe. A friend of mine had this issue though. He had to restart his computer and then try the update again. It happens on smaller apps on Windows Store sometimes as well. Not sure why but restarting and clearing the memory usually seems to fix it. Microsoft definitely needs to work this issue out. Especially the way it just fails without feedback. Poor user experience.
Unless PSVR is offering refunds I would think this is important info. I would never buy a game that was making people sick on Oculus for the same reason. With no refunds not worth the risk.
This generation of VR feels like a beta. But VR is the future I feel.
Good luck to those that try it. In my experience driving games are more or less sickness simulators. If you do try it I recommend putting a desk fan in front of you which helps a little. Ginger chewable are also somewhat helpful.
As Cole Train would say.... Wooooooo!
It is pretty awesome. But I would recommend getting it on PC where it truly shines.
Most old people are asleep late at night.
It's not just the Move controllers it is also the player that it has trouble tracking which is far worse a problem. If the player isn't tracked correctly it leads to motion sickness. And it isn't just the quality of tracking it is also the size of the tracking, which is much smaller than the other solutions out there.
This is the one launch game that looks interesting. But they say it will release in a couple of months for Vive and Rift so I will just wait.
The tracking is a very big deal in VR. Very big deal. Plus there is the issue of performance compared to high end PC's. And most importantly in my opinion, the closed Sony eco system.
VR designed for Mom's basement. Finally
Lol, that game actually came out in January. Brand new game haha
Awesome game
The PC of today is every bit as much a console as X1 or PS4. It just does more, is all.
What? TR started out on PC, Sega and PS. Only reason TR2 was exclusive to PS was because SONY PAID FOR TWO YEARS OF EXCLUSIVITY.
You are wrong. It released first on PC, Sega and PS. Sony bought exclusive rights to TR2 same as MS did, except Sony bought it for 2 years instead of 1.
In my experience, yes. Although some are much worse than others.
@master: yes, I think that is large part of all VR sickness. Our bodies are used to feeling movement as it happens and in VR we lose those triggers.
