It's not exactly GT5. But I believe they used the same amount of polygons used in GT5 to create that car model.
There's a difference between modifying hardware and software.
It was a big city, but graphically, it wasn't technically impressive or had the artistic design to make up for it.

The game is averaging in the low 80%. Which is still pretty good.

And the "weird creatures" in the first game were one of the main highlights in Uncharted 1.

Crysis 2 IS a better game. The pacing and overall gameplay is better in Crysis 2 than it was on the first Crysis game.
But the reason why some PC gamers won't buy it is because of the graphics.

The visual design is so different between the two that you CAN'T compare them.
