On topic, I recently bought an x360 along with Halo Reach, it was bundled with Forza 3 and Alan Wake and I must say I well and truly enjoyed the story there

Sorry to take away the small amount of joy you are clinging on to possibly help you through this psn ordeal but you are wrong, the number of Live users has actually not gone down, it has in fact risen since last year in line with the hike in hardware sales.

Because more games have equalled more sales for sony in the past right? Look at all the exclusives sony has released this year EVERY SINGLE ONE of them has sold less than their previous iterations even with a huge install base. I dunno if it's piracy or not but whatever it is, it does not inspire alot in investors. E3 will be great for gamers, not much else

Unless the hackers do good by their word and attack them (successfully) again. Then it would just be an epic (I want to say fail but I know that will get me burnt at the stake so I'll say) disaster
Not to nitpick but some might say that the more time reviewers took to review GT5, the lower the score became. I say this based purely on the fact that it went from an 85 to an 86, then to 87 and then all the way down to 84 as more reviews came in later.
Brand image is very important so I'd say yes. Sony is a money making corp. Their main function isn't making really awesome games and keeping you happy contrary to popular belief. Their main function is to generate income and being perceived as a high ranking electronics brand is a very big part of generating income.
