Don't mind the jealous Sony fans. They are just pissed off because some of their biggest games like MGS 4 take forever to load and they have to wait for installs in between chapters and also some of the multiplatform games have a mandatory partial install that takes up just about as much space as the WHOLE game on the 360.
Don't get your hopes up untill there is official announcement made an/or game goes gold. Untill then this is just another date.
True about the chip but a gaming console is more then just a processor and it's the other areas where the 360 is excelling :). At the end it seems that MS has benefitted from Sony's mistakes during their early cell development (the desinger who says he feels "contaminated" probably just spilled the beans on the cell and it's problems), anyway very interesting article.
It was designed HD from the very beginning. MS just didn't toot it's own horn too soon (unlike Sony) and presumably kept this scaling "ANA" chip inside the 360 a secret until revealing it's purpose in early '07 http://arstechnica.com/arti...

Blu-ray 2x: 72Mbp / = constant 8MBps
12x DVD: 66 - 132Mbps / = variable 8.2 - 16.5MBps
So you can have a 1080 p movie on the DVD using the codec that is used on blu-ray (MPEG-4 AVC ) but you will be limited by the 8 Gb capacity compared to Blu-ray and your movie will be short 30 min or so ? But it is possible.

Get off the high horse you are riding. Most of your so called native 1080 p titles are simple arcade games.It doesn't matter how powerful your processor is if you can't squeeze enough out of your graphic output.
Most games with lots of physics, lot of action and bullets flying around can't do 1080p since there is not enough under the hood of this generation consoles to do 1080p and keep a good framerate.

There is not a such thing as a hi-def media, you can have 1080p movie on DVD. I think you ment to say large capacity media (blu-ray).

We are half way thru the standard console cycle (5-6 years) and PS3 is the only current gen console with declining sales and the gap to 360 growing bigger - if that is not a defeat than I don't what is.
The gap between 360 and PS 3 continues to grow - where are all the idiot sony fanboys and their crystal balls predicting the future like they were 2 years ago?

Just because they don't blow their load too soon (like Sony who likes to announce way too soon to make the fans drool just to delay for a year or two) does not mean they don't have anything in the pipeline - watch and learn. They will be many surprises from MS in '09. Thinking otherwise would be foolish.

Sonny dropped the ball a long time ago and it just starts to show now. Everything from overhyping the ps3 (did they think we are that dumb and going to fall for the same $hit they did with PS 2? - how insulting!) to having a trojan horse (BR drive) pushed onto us plus falling way behind in online services and then expecting us to pay a premium for that ??

Sony fans like you are consistently showing a profound lack of common sense and knowledge. Microsoft owns the publishing rights to Mass Effect (1st) and hell would freeze over before that game finds it's way to PS 3.
