I didn't that's why I bought the wii in the first place. It's their peers that encourage them to like older games and that's ok as long as it's not too far above their age level.
My kids would shoot my eye out with an AK47 if I bought them a kirby game.
I don't think anyone hates Nintendo its just a company that makes things.
And the franchises you mention above DO sell millions but it's because there are Millions of wii's and ds's out there.
It's just time they started up some MORE ips that are exciting for the here and now not for the then.

That's true but thats the same list you would have quoted 5 years ago oh and 10 years ago and some of them dare I say 20 years ago.
It has to move on, I'm bored with all these franchises we need an adult set of games from them now not the same games bought because we find them safe and nostalgic.

Yes the SP is superb but sink enough time into the MP and you'll never look back, its like crack, once you get it, it gets VERY addictive.

I have loved almost every second of the Uncharted beta.
My sons have loved both.
Its going to look like a box with embellishments and electronic components inside just the same as any other console.
I miss all of the old trolls like giant enemy crab et al.
Most were very entertaining.
Bungie was small chips compared to the old guys although he was naievely schizo and started out praising the ps3 before moving on to all out anti troll.
They (The producers and sony pictures) could give the role of drake to Nolan or Nathan or me it doesn't matter as long as you have a stellar cast of supporting characters.
Their names give the film the saleability while Nolan/Nathan keeps the fans happy but this is only possible with some heavy hollywood hitters.

Uncharted 2 is a little faster paced, sounds the same as 3 the maps are very playable in both and the menus have to accomodate a lot more slots and items hence they aren't as slick because everything is customisable and all the more brilliant for that.
So have half a grilled billy goat and a happy house warming.
The thing is you can buy a second hand game if you want for SP and if you want the MP you will then be able to buy the online pass from whichever company is selling or through psn or live steam etc.
I know it makes it more expensive but in the long term if people stop buying at the marked used price to allow for the punter to buy an online pass to make it work then the game price will (hopefully) come down to balance the price out.

I love arty and atmospheric games (ico my favourite) but to me this is just a platformer and a not very responsive one either.
If it wasn't black and white and had a happy sound track no one would give this a second glance.
I'm all for supporting indies but I just don't understand the hype, sorry :(
