The SNES only had 1 version, the N64 too, the Gamecube too, the Wii too. Different colors and limited editions appeared, but Nintendo never had different versions of their home consoles. Until now.

Gamers these days just hate ANY change developers make to a game or a console. Motion controllers? death. Touchscreen controller? death. Dante has black hair? Death. Intelligent zombies en RE? Death. An unusual game full of QTE? Death. And the list can go on and on.
It's like we're scared from any kind of evolution. The only allowed advance is graphics.
I can imagine Square Enix trolling:
"Let's put a counter for a new TWEWY game, people will freak out. And then, we say it's just a remix."
"let's put a mysterious character at the end of the remix, so people will know it's a new TWEWY game. And then, we release it only on iOS"

"motion control gimmicks" There are some pretty good games in Wii and PS3 that are actually fun with motion controls, is just that developers are too lazy to take a risk and make a good game focused on that kind of controller.
