Okay, it narrowly beat the GC. Still did pathetically considering the competition sold over six times what the Xbox did. Again, the Xbox needed a pathetic console in the form of the Wii U to not finish in last place. Still did hideously compared to the competition, and Nintendo are clearly back to their winning ways with the Switch so it's another last place for them.
Don't forget, in MS' greatest ever gen and Sony's worst, they still outsold MS. MS has always been firmly 3rd place.

Actually, the manufacturers design the VGT cars so really manufacturers are "imitating" their own creations. Still, the VGT program has some relevance, which I argued on GTPlanet too.
